Louisiana industry plays a role in the school day in more ways than you might think. 🎒📚

Crayons, backpacks, classroom technology, desks, uniforms and even the fuel that keeps school buses moving are all made possible by Louisiana’s chemistry and energy industries.

Industry also supports education through local investment. In ITEP parishes, teachers earn an average of more than $2,000 above the statewide average.

As students head back to school, we’re proud to recognize the Louisiana workers and companies helping classrooms across our state start the year strong.

ExxonMobil is helping sow the seeds of tomorrow’s energy future right here in our own backyard.

Through a $225,000 investment in SOWELA Technical Community College’s Oakdale campus, ExxonMobil is supporting STEM training for 44 educators from six Southwest Louisiana parishes and helping create a modern space for hands-on learning.

During the weeklong camp, educators worked alongside experts from Rice University’s Tapia Center through the Tapia Project to develop engaging, project-based lessons focused on topics such as artificial intelligence, carbon capture and storage and computer algorithms.

By giving local teachers the tools to bring real-world energy concepts into their classrooms, this partnership will introduce more Louisiana students to STEM and prepare the next generation for meaningful careers in our state’s evolving energy industry.

GLAC Executive Director Marc Ehrhardt joined Moon Griffon to discuss how unclear and constantly shifting regulations create uncertainty, invite lawsuits and make it harder for companies to invest in Louisiana.

Accountability matters. So do clear rules and fair enforcement.
