The Arts District of New Orleans (ADNO) is a burgeoning hub for New Orleans’ young professionals and creatives. We strive to connect all aspects of the visual arts, culinary arts, musical arts, and the art of travel in this sought after district. Coming off an incredible summer show that met national critical acclaim, Andrew LaMar Hopkins’ wall has been freshly rehung with some of our favorite available works.

From his iconic miniature Marie Laveaus to intricate, historic Creole scenes like Creole Wine Cellar, the wall is filled with the history, detail, and storytelling that make Andrew’s work unmistakably his.

Plus, we have his historic New York Times commission, Louisiana French Afro Creole, Grandmother’s Wisdom, fresh from the front page of the Arts section of the paper.

Small wonders, big texture, and pure New Orleans joy. ✨

In Last Call, First Spin; Rollin’ River; and Neutral Ground Get Around, Allison Renée Stuart painstakingly paints tiny New Orleans icons in oil against heavily textured acrylic. From a streetcar to the Carousel bar to the riverboat, Allison reminds us it’s the small things that bring joy and carry big memories.

Denise Hopkins paints women not as subjects to be observed, but as figures in whom we are invited to recognize ourselves.

In Sometimes I Need Only to Stand Wherever I Am to Be Blessed, a woman stands with hands outstretched, her gaze fixed on the horizon toward a roseate spoonbill in flight, and her head framed by an almost celestial halo. This and so many of Denise’s pieces cause viewers to stop before them and simply stare, as if mirroring the woman herself, making us look inward and asking us to find stillness, and for at least a moment, inner peace.

Perhaps Clementine Hunter’s most beloved, and certainly one of her rarest subjects, the Good and Bad Angels reminds us that, in her view of the world, the good in people always outnumbered the bad.

Reimagined through Andrew LaMar Hopkins’ unmistakable lens, those angels take on the grandeur of a Renaissance masterpiece. Draped in flowing white robes, illuminated by a burst of divine light, with a white dove and the Sacred Heart at the center, the painting feels both timeless and deeply of this place.

For Cayman Clevenger, this may be the defining work from Her Way, His Way. It perfectly captures what makes the exhibition so extraordinary, a reverence for Clementine Hunter’s vision while fearlessly making it Andrew’s own.

By popular demand, Her Way, His Way is on view for one final encore in the Annex until August 31. You don’t want to miss this!
