I am working with these miniature mixed media paintings on paper. I can experiment with different arrangments and compositions. These 3 are abstractions of mountain views I saw in northern Spain.

Working with these smaller pieces allows me to experiment with processes, colors, format, materials, and motifs. I can also consider how they work together, pairing or grouping these miniature mixed media paintings on paper by contrasting or linking certain elements.

I am at work in the studio, creating works of different sizes, materials, motifs, and processes. For a time, I work loose, experimenting and starting many pieces. I am now near the end of the middle game, where I refine and develop and look and think. Some paintings I will finish spontaneously after a flourish of activity, while others take time and contemplation. Some need to percolate. For me, inspiration flows out of consistent work.
