Happy Father's Day to all the dads, mentors, and father figures who pass down more than just lessons . . . they pass down a legacy.

This year at NOLA Funk Fest, you'll see that legacy come to life when the New Orleans Legacy Coalition takes the stage alongside their fathers for a one-of-a-kind generational jam.

Check out this special Father's Day message from River Eckert and get ready for an unforgettable family affair at NOLA Funk Fest.

Before Jazz or Funk, there was Congo Square. From the late-1700s through the mid-1800s, enslaved Africans gathered there on Sundays to drum, dance, and sing: a communal act of resistance. This would eventually become the musical DNA of New Orleans. And from there, the world.

As we celebrate Juneteenth, it's worth sitting with that for a minute. Some of the most powerful music ever made came from people who had everything stripped away except their voices and their memory of home. That's not a footnote. That's the whole story.

Happy 80th Birthday to Leo Nocentelli. As the founding guitarist of The Meters, Leo helped create the sound that changed music forever. Those riffs and grooves became the foundation of Funk and continue to inspire musicians around the world.

Thank you for the innovation and countless unforgettable performances.

Here's to many more years of keeping it funky.

Before Glen Campbell took it to number 1 on the country and pop charts, Southern Nights was written and recorded by Allen Toussaint.

Toussaint said the song was inspired by childhood memories of visiting relatives in rural Louisiana, where the night sky was so bright with stars that it felt almost magical. His original version has a laidback New Orleans groove. Go check it out.
