Frank was a regular presence at Pridefest since the very beginning- we will miss seeing him at the Archives table!
It is with great sadness that the LGBT+ Archives Project of Louisiana, along with the entire LGBT+ community of New Orleans, mourns the passing of beloved leader and friend, educator and advocate - Frank Perez. An activist and historian, Frank worked tirelessly to ensure that the histories of our community were properly preserved and made available for future generations. He gave unwavering energy to this pursuit, and his powerful leadership, over many years, served to strengthen and grow the LGBT+ Archives Project of Louisiana. Frank truly lived the organization's mission of promoting and encouraging the protection and preservation of materials that chronicle the culture and history of the Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community in Louisiana.
Our hearts, now broken, are also filled with gratitude, as we know Frank's legacy will live on through the organization he helped start. We will honor him and the incredible life he lived by continuing our work and fulfilling our mission.
We will be sharing more about efforts to honor Frank in the coming days. Our heartfelt sympathies extend to his partner, Chris, and to both of their extended families.
We love you, Frank, and will miss you tremendously.
