Steppin’ Out with Peggy Scott Laborde interviews Ragtime Day NOLA!!

Alan Smason previews upcoming theatre activities.

Robert Becker, former General Manager of City Park, discusses his new memoir, Going South: Stories and Thoughts From a Northerner’s Career As A Southerner. Becker was the former head of the City Planning Commission and in senior management at the Audubon Institute. His memoir spans from the 1970s.

Also featured are Patrick Mackey, founder of the Ragtime Day NOLA, a series of concerts and other events, and Lars Edegran, pianist and founder of the New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra. They perform Joplin’s “The Entertainer” and “My Creole Belle”.

Steppin’ Out is produced and hosted by Peggy Scott Laborde.

Steppin' Out will be broadcast TONIGHT THURSDAY, APRIL 2 AT 7pm on WYES, and streamed on wyes.org/live and PBS apps.

Thursday at the Mint, "Ragtime in New Orleans," a conversation with the producers of Ragtime Day NOLA

Friday, The New Orleans Ragtime Ball with the New Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra. Dance lesson at 6 with Walter Nelson, music at 7. Tickets at the door, $35/$60 per couple.

Saturday 11-4 at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, Ragtime Day Showcase, with the top ragtime talent in the city that never forgot ragtime! Free Admission

Sunday 1-3:30, Ragtime Garden Party with Opera Creole and the New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra, special guests Silver Swan Ragtime Quartet. Bring a picnic and your dancing shoes for this elegant afternoon! Tickets at longuevue.com $55/$50 members.
