In Memory of Robert “Bob” Commerford (May 21, 1932 – July 27, 2026)

We lost a giant of the fair and festival world this summer. Bob Commerford spent decades on decades exhibiting and training animals, and when Goatboy Soaps was just starting out — still years away from being fully accepted in the fair circuit — he stopped by our booth and simply said, “nice looking animals.” Coming from a man of his experience, it meant more than he probably ever knew.

We got to see Mr. Commerford several times a year after that, and his family — Billy and Tim, who now run Commerford’s — have become dear friends. Commerford’s has been G.O.A.T. Days’ major contributor and the ones who bring the rides that make the festival what it is, every single year.

We recently saw the carnival’s tradition of honoring one of their own — turning a carousel pony to face outward, surrounded in flowers, in Bob’s memory. It’s a beautiful gesture from a close-knit community, and a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much of his life to this world.

Rest easy, Mr. Commerford Thank you for the kindness, the years, and the memories.

Sorry to take so long composing this post. It’s been 3 weeks since GOAT Days and we are almost recovered!! This was our 7th year and the most challenging yet but also the absolute BEST!

Great Vendors, Non Profits, Food Trucks, Commerford’s Carnival, Fireworks, The RETURN of the Moonlight 5K, Schlemdogs’s First Annual Hotdog Eating Contest, Joe Buffalo and the awesome entertainment and 3 beautiful days of fantastic weather!

We can’t thank you enough! Special gratitude to the following people, Mayor Pete Bass, The New Milford Police Department, Dan Calhoun and Parks and Rec, Sean Delaney and Water Witch, Shawn Emmons, Tammy Bass, Julia Fernandez, Cara Anderson, Photi Bass, Kevin and Laurie Lane, Colleen Purcell and Scott’s Landscaping, Joe DeGregorio, Jayna and Aaron Larkin, Madi & Fredy, Andrea Dener, Bob Reiling, Cynthia Granada, Chris Cosgrove, Paul Murphy, Roy Waterhouse, Linda Pouder, New Milford Agway, Sysmanski Excavating, PJ Lillis, and every single volunteer who worked the gates, grabbed garbage or helped in any way.

To the people who waited in traffic, made the long walk to the entrances or waited in lines in the hot sun, THANK YOU! What started out as an
Open Farm Day at our home has exceeded all expectations and we appreciate you!

We raised a record $20,000 this year which will be used to partially fund next year’s GOAT Days (definitely a tent to relax and eat under) and will come back to the Community in various donations to local non profits and those in need. We also want to help facilitate the improvement of Young’s Field with bathrooms and better drainage to better serve the people of New Milford.

Again, thank you from the bottoms of our hearts!
