The Spirit of the Garde opens October 3rd at the Garde in New London. The exhibition is a vibrant celebration of creativity, history, and community honoring the Garde Arts Center's 100th year. Forty regional artists came together for this one, each sharing their own interpretation of the Garde: past, present, and future.

While you're here, step inside The Spirit of the Garde — a powerful exhibition featuring forty local artists capturing how the Garde has inspired, strengthened, and enriched our community through music, film, dance, art, and more, all built around our Centennial story.

Then stay for A Night to Remember: a full evening recreating the Garde's original opening night, complete with a cocktail reception, a symphonic jazz orchestra, vaudeville, silent film with live organ accompaniment, and a Speakeasy after-party.

✨ A VERY SPECIAL
GARDE REUNION! ✨

Oh, what a night!

Following an unforgettable evening with Randy Travis, there was a little extra magic on the Garde stage as acclaimed actor Dakin Matthews- a longtime friend and mentor of Garde Executive Director Steve Sigel - went onstage to reconnect with Randy.

Randy and Dakin worked together years ago on an episode of Strange Bedfellows from the sitcom Down Home, making their reunion on the Garde stage a wonderful full-circle moment.

Old friends reconnecting, stories being shared, and a little unexpected magic after the curtain came down.

Only at the Garde. ❤️

⛳ Another great afternoon in the books with our friends at The Light House!

This past weekend, the Garde Arts Center was proud to serve as an "It's Show Time" sponsor at The Light House's Annual Mini Golf Event — bringing a little bit of the theater out to the course with Garde Cinema tees, popcorn, and tickets for guests to take home.

We're grateful for the chance to support an organization doing vital work in community outreach and education right here in New London, and for everyone who came out to play a round for a good cause.

See you on the green again next year! 🏌️

The 29th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival comes to the Garde on Sunday, October 4th at 3:00 PM — and this year, YOU decide who wins. Cast your vote for Best Film and Best Actor alongside film lovers in over 500 venues worldwide, all watching the same ten finalists at the exact same time.

Ten countries. Ten stories. One World, One Week, One Festival.

Even better: director Vlad Gradescu (Hai Davai, Moldova) joins us in person for a live Q&A after the screening. This is a rare chance to hear straight from a filmmaker about the vision and process behind his film.

Past finalists have gone on to Oscar nods! Come see what the buzz is about.

🎂✨ The Garde turned 100 — and we celebrated in style.

Thursday night, we opened We Live Here, a new exhibit at the Garde Gallery, with a reception that included a cake as sweet as our first century: a Garde 100-decorated birthday cake and ch*****ne toast, an idea from the very team behind the exhibit. Then the building itself joined the party, with a one-night-only art installation lighting up the Garde Theater. If you caught the videos on social media, you know it was something special.

This was the latest stop in our Season of Sparkle, and we couldn't have pulled it off without our community partners at Connecticut College and The Housing Collective CT, who orchestrated the evening start to finish. Thank you for helping us celebrate 100 years in such a perfect.
