President John Adams always thought Independence Day should be celebrated today, July 2 as 250 years ago today, the Continental Congress finally agreed and officially voted in favor of Richard Henry Lee's resolution to declare independence. Jefferson had two days to write the Declaration which was adopted on July 4th.
