When and how often should you brush your teeth?

The American Dental Association recommends brushing your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste for two minutes each time.

When you brush your teeth, you help remove food and plaque — a sticky white film that forms on your teeth and contains bacteria. After you eat a meal or snack that contains sugar, the bacteria in plaque produce acids that attack tooth enamel.

Eventually, the acid can break down tooth enamel, causing cavities. Plaque that isn't removed can also harden into tartar, making it harder to keep teeth clean. Tartar buildup on your gums leads to inflammation that causes gum disease.

In choosing when to brush your teeth, you might also consider your diet. If you've eaten an acidic food or drink, avoid brushing your teeth right away. These acids weaken tooth enamel, and brushing too soon can remove enamel.

If you have arthritis or have difficulty holding a toothbrush, consider buying an electric or battery-operated toothbrush. These have been shown to remove plaque better than manual toothbrushes.

THE TOP 5 HEALTH BENEFITS OF SMILING

1. Improved Mood
Smiling can boost your mood when you’re feeling blue, and may be beneficial for people struggling with anxiety and depression. A 2010 study found that making yourself smile when you’re feeling down helps improve your mood and increases positive thoughts. So, if you’re having a bad day, try smiling anyway—it may lead to a genuine smile and lift your spirits.

2. Stress Relief
Did you know that smiling more often, whether you’re feeling happy or not, helps your body deal with stressful situations more effectively? A 2015 study published in Psychological Science found that smiling can result in a lower heart rate during stressful tasks. Stress generally causes increases in heart rate and blood pressure. So, maintaining a smile when stressed provides you with both psychological and physical health benefits.

3. Better Relationships
Have you noticed that you’re drawn to people who smile a lot? People who smile are perceived as being more likable than people who don’t smile, according to one 2014 study. Being likable makes it easier to build and maintain better relationships with people, which is important for your overall health and well-being. A 2010 study found that people with positive emotions have more stable marriages and better interpersonal skills than people with negative emotions. So, keep a smile on your face to help create stronger, healthier social bonds.

4. Stronger Immune Function
Believe it or not, laughter (which often begins with a smile) appears to help boost your body’s immune system. Mayo Clinic reports that laughter and positive thoughts release signaling molecules in your brain that fight stress and illnesses, while negative thoughts decrease your body’s immunity. One 2015 study found that laughter therapy increases immune responses in women who have just had babies. So, maybe laughter really is the best medicine.

5. Longer Life
It turns out that the fountain of youth might be right under your nose. A 2010 study found that smiling and positive emotions are associated with increased life spans. Talk about a reason to smile!

Coffee in the morning?

Coffee in one of the most popular drinks in the world. We love the taste, the smell, and a boost that comes from a coffee. But did you know that there is a clear difference when it comes to drinking the coffee at 11 AM and 7 PM? Read on and learn why you should avoid drinking coffee after 6 PM.

What Is The Best Time To Drink Coffee?

People have a tendency to drink coffee first thing in the morning. However, it turns out that having coffee so early in the morning may not be the best morning habit.
This is because in the hour after you wake up, your body produces cortisol that’s responsible for leveling stress hormone. Cortisol is also known as ‘alertness hormone’ which triggers when you are facing stressful situations.
In other words, coffee + cortisol = extra stress. And this is so not desirable combo for your health.

How Long After Waking Up Should I Drink Coffee?

For the biggest bump from your morning coffee, you should wait an hour after waking up to brew that first cup. It sounds difficult and challenging, but that is the best option if you want to go through the day smoothly. Basically, you should have your coffee after cortisol kicks out.

Therefore the best time to drink coffee during the day is as it follows:
between 9:30 – 11:30 AM
between 1:30 – 5:00 PM

Important: You should avoid having coffee after 6PM.

Morning exercises

Without a doubt, the habit of doing physical education in the morning is the quality that characterizes a person on the positive side. Starting your day with exercise, you will not only improve your well-being, change your body for the better, but also keep it in shape for many years. It's no secret that morning physical education helps the body wake up faster, but exercises should be regular, and not several times a month, then the body will get used to it, otherwise you will only lose your usual rhythm.

Exercising daily for 5-15 minutes in the morning, you will not only get a boost of energy for the whole day, but also slow down the aging process. People who do morning exercises are less likely to suffer from overweight, the whole secret in endorphins, they improve not only mood, but also eliminate overeating.

It is worth noting that contrary to the popular belief that it is better to exercise on an empty stomach, this is a delusion. You run the risk of dehydration or starvation. A person who practices exercise becomes emotionally stable and less prone to stress.

How does exercise in the morning affect the process of losing weight? The fact is that constant exercise accelerates the metabolism, however, it is worth considering the varieties of exercises, the more mobile they are, the more calories are burned.

Do not wear. In the morning it is very easy to over-train, remember, it is not for nothing that it is called physical education, you do not need to set records here, this is not a sport for you. Make a set of exercises, after which you will feel a surge of strength, not fatigue.

It goes without saying to get up early to have time to do exercises, it is not so simple, but the goal is worth it.

How much sleep do you really need?

To answer this question, let's turn to the experiment of scientists from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Washington.

Researchers collected 48 healthy men and women who were used to sleeping 7-8 hours a day. Then the participants were divided into four groups.

People from the first group had to stay awake for three days, from the second - to sleep 4 hours a day. Participants from the third group were allowed to sleep 6 hours a day, and from the fourth - 8 hours.

Three groups that slept 4, 6, and 8 hours a day were required to observe this regimen for two weeks. During the experiment, scientists observed the physical health and behavior of the participants.

As a result, the group of participants sleeping 8 hours a day did not experience any disturbances during the whole experiment - a decrease in cognitive functions, a deterioration in reaction or memory lapses. At the same time, in people sleeping for 6 and 4 hours a day, all indicators gradually worsened.

In the group with 4 hours of sleep, the indicators were worse, although not by much than in the 6-hour group. In general, two significant conclusions were drawn from the experiment.

Firstly, lack of sleep tends to accumulate. In other words, lack of sleep has its neurobiological cost, which only increases over time.

After one week of experiment, 25% of the participants sleeping 6 hours a day periodically fell asleep at different times during the day. After two weeks, people from this group showed the same indicators as if they spent two days without sleep.
