Great news!! If you pre-ordered my 2nd book, A Sprinkle of Library Fun: Let's Get a Cookbook, from Barnes & Noble or Amazon, the release date has been moved up to August 11! 🥳 My 1st book, A Stir of Imagination: Let's Bake a Cake, is still available for purchase!

The Frosted Apron's children's book series aims to transition young readers from "imaginative readers" to "active doers" in the kitchen where they will be introduced to life lessons through hands on learning. The books encourage not only reading, but culinary exploration. ❤️ Charlee, who is the puppy character in the books, is hiding throughout the pages adding a fun hide-and-seek game between him and the readers while they learn the basics about baking and cooking.

Book #3 is headed to bookshelves near you next year!

These would make a sweet treat for dad on Father's Day, and the kids will love to make them!

Mower Rice Krispie Treats

Directions:
Either use Wilton tip #233 to pipe green buttercream grass on a graham cracker, or you can just spread green icing on top. Next, spread red buttercream icing on top of a rice krispie treat, then put a dab of icing on the sides in the place where the "tires," aka mini Oreos will go. The icing works as glue for the Oreos. Top with dad's favorite candy...mini receses, mini milky way, rolo etc. Take two bendy straws, cut them smaller and put them together. Stick the straws in the rice krispie treat. Final step is placing your lawn mower on top of the graham cracker. Don't forget to write dad a note saying...Dad, I couldn't love you mower! ❤

Deviled Egg Sandwiches

6 large eggs, boiled and peeled
1/4 cup of mayonnaise
1 tsp mustard
jalapenos or pickles, diced
salt/pepper to taste
Cajun seasoning to taste
2 slices of cheese
sliced deli meat of choice
bacon, cooked
purple onion, sliced
lettuce
small wooden skewers
everything bagel seasoning

Boil and peel 6 large eggs. Cut the eggs in half and remove yolks. In a bowl, smash the yolks then add mayonnaise, mustard, diced jalapenos or pickles, salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning. Mix. Fill the egg halves with the yolk mixture. Use a spatula to make the mixture flat on top of the eggs. Cut each slice of cheese into 4 pieces. Cut the sliced deli meat and bacon into smaller pieces. On top of one egg half, add a piece of cheese, deli meat, bacon, onions, and lettuce. Put another egg half on top creating a sandwich. Stick a small wooden skewer through the middle of each sandwich. Sprinkle the tops with everything bagel seasoning. Makes 6 deviled egg sandwiches. Enjoy!

Chili-less Chili Burger

Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp brown sugar
1/4 cayenne pepper
salt/black pepper to taste
hamburger buns
sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
purple onions, sliced
Frito chips, original or chili cheese
chipotle aioli
Other optional toppings: tomatoes, lettuce, sliced avacado

Add the chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to 2 lbs of ground beef. Optional: You can add 1 egg to the meat if needed as a binder when forming patties. Mix. Form patties and cook. Melt a slice of cheese on top of the patties. Toast hamburger buns for an added crunch. Spread chipotle aioli on the inside of the top and bottom buns. Add a meat patti then toppings of choice such as, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, sliced avocado, and chips, then add the top bun. This burger would pair well with a side of beans, salad, fries, more chips, etc. Enjoy!
