🗣️Never be afraid of being YOU!! After every oppurtunity I’ve ever been given throughout my musical journey I always ask myself….
“WHAT DID YOU LEARN??? “ “WHAT CAN YOU TAKE FROM THIS EXPERIENCE?” “WHAT CAN YOU OFFER THE WORLD WHEN IT COMES TO ADVICE/ENCOURAGEMENT/INFLUENCE?”
For my Idol Journey I can say this…..
as I stood amongst the top 25 and we prepared for our performances I saw several expressions on their faces as they evaluated my appearance. Some reflected confusion as to why I had invested so much into my costumes, others reflected worry that they weren’t dressed enough. I could tell that for some I may have been too much and for others I was giving them life . As I listened to the room around me I stopped and offered my new friends reassurance . Own who you are as an artist. What is not enough for me may be just enough for you ! Never second guess your own artistry. If music were all the same then we would only have one genre, one radio station, one artist! I do what I do well and you do what you do well and be confident in your own skin !!!!
How did I stand so confidently during idol and not fear I was “TOO EXTRA, TOO MUCH”? Well, a phenomenal contestant that day questioned me as we waited in the curtains to enter the stage. She looked at me with the biggest eyes, and I could tell she was in shock when she saw me backstage with an extravagant costume and a big prop. She then asked…. “WHY DONT YOU JUST MOVE AWAY AND DO BROADWAY OR SOMETHING”? to some this would have be offensive but to me, someone who is completely ok with who I am as an artist, it only offered me complete reassurance, because I know that Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Madonna, Sia, Michael Jackson etc. were all perceived just this way once by many and it didn’t stop them because they were destined to stand out amongst others, they were destined for greatness! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
So whether you are an “ADELE or LANA DEL REY” OR a “BILLIE EILLISH, or BRITNEY SPEARS” just BE YOU! BE CONFIDENT IN WHAT YOU DO AND OWN YOUR ARTISTRY! 😎😎😎😎😎
