Thanks to all the awesome dancers, teachers, and volunteers that made Salsa Rueda New Haven possible, and special shoutout to Amanda who started it all! Three classes left! Tonight, we'll learn about a fun formation twist, RUEDA POR FUERA, which is danced facing outside instead of center. We'll learn how to transition into and out of this formation, and how to do group moves with partner changes.

And, since the rain seems to love Wednesdays, we'll be meeting at University Towers Basement again! Say you're here to see Shivani. See you soon!

We've had an incredible time dancing rueda with everyone over the past two years! Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and Aug 21st will mark the end of formal classes.

Salsa Rueda New Haven has been powered by our team of wonderful volunteer instructors, many of whom are heading off to new locales or starting new phases in career and study. To say farewell and celebrate our amazing rueda community, we are counting down our FINAL FIVE sessions with some funky new formations and an end-of-summer bash!

Class tonight will be at the Mary S. Harkness Auditorium which is in the Sterling School of Medicine. 333 Cedar St. New Haven, CT. We are starting the new class schedule today so beginner/intermediate class will start at 8pm and advanced at 9pm. Open practice will follow from 10-11pm. See you all there.

What is Salsa Rueda New Haven?

We are a group of like minded people who are interested in meeting new people and having fun through dance. Salsa rueda is a style of salsa dancing which originated in Cuba, where couples form a big circle and execute moves in unison to the calls of a single leader. Partners are switched frequently and more complex group level patterns are also possible. Most moves performed in the rueda can also be translated to partner dancing making it unique and versatile!

Salsa Rueda New Haven is led by Amanda Rodrigue, who has dancing roots in Athens, GA and New Orleans, LA. She is classically trained in ballet, but became obsessed with salsa rueda during her time in Athens, where she was an instructor with both SalsaAthens and a founding member of the University of Georgia Salsa club.
