Suggestion to singers, groups and musicians:

It is definitely on you to make an event successful, HOWEVER... if you all do not respect or acknowledge the "behind the scenes" work of your Sound Engineer, it could affect the entire event if they didn't take pride in ensuring that you all sound great.

Think of a All-Pro quarterback... truly, how good could he be if his offensive line didn't take pride in their job of blocking.

*This includes the rest of the media team as well... cameras, lighting, etc. Even if you're blessed to have "Roadies", you better appreciate them!

From a musician that does sound reinforcement was well, make sure you give grace when needed, because "crazy" will always happen when dealing with audio/computer equipment,
but acknowledge those behind the scenes. Let them know they matter.

To the solo singers, musicians, bands, and choirs... this is for you...

Please read this clearly...
There is absolutely nothing wrong at all with doing cover songs because people love them and will flow with you as you perform them because they can relate to them.

But at some point in the midst of your music career, leave your own legacy in the music industry. Don't sing/play for 20 years and never record your own material... even if it's song writing for someone else. There's more than enough trails out there for you to blaze!

Leave your personal mark on the world... it's in you, and you've got this! If you have true followers, I guarantee they'll be even more excited to see you step out with your music than you expect.
