Santiago Cumplido del Castillo is a transdisciplinary artist whose practice moves across visual art, voice, composition, movement, & performance. His work often exists at the intersection of body, memory, sound, and image, inviting the viewer into a deeper emotional and psychological space.

“Encrucijada 2” by Santiago Cumplido del Castillo will be featured in The Glass House Summer Party Silent Auction on now open May 22 thru June 8. 🔗Link in bio.

This annual benefit supports the preservation and programming of an iconic landmark of modern architecture and design. Explore the auction, place a bid, and support the continued legacy of this extraordinary site.

Part of a two-painting series, Encrucijada means “crossroads” -a place of decision, movement, and transformation.

For this series, Santiago chose to work with red paint for the first time. It became an act of courage: a way to confront his own fears, move through heartbreak, and transform pain into presence.

Through “Encrucijada 2”, the crossroads becomes more than a place. It becomes a state of becoming; a reminder that even after heartbreak, we are still capable of movement, beauty, and transformation.

Join us on June 6 to meet the artist in person

True story.

“Face”
Acrylic on prison canvas

Nhut’s painting “Face” speaks to identity, survival, and transformation. Asking what we hide, what we perform, and what we must confront in order to become free.

Sentenced to life in prison without parole as a young person, Nhut Vo spent 15 years in maximum security. During incarceration, he turned to art, meditation, and his Buddhist roots as a path toward inner freedom, eventually teaching others how to meditate and sharing the tools that helped him survive.

Due to the support of Ruth Gainsburgh, Nhut’s path continued to open. Shortly after, he met the founder of The Table & Gallery™ ; a supporter of his work before the inception of The Table & Gallery™ itself.

Today, his story of healing continues through his work .llc with rescue dogs, helping animals who have experienced trauma learn trust, safety, and connection again.

Nhut’s journey reminds us that human beings are more than their worst moment. Through art, compassion, accountability, and care, even the most painful narratives can be rewritten.

A rare collection of Nhut’s works created during incarceration is now available for preview.

There are artists you meet at a moment in time.

And then there are artists you have the privilege of watching become.

Camila Young has grown with The Table & Gallery, and it has been an honor to witness the depth, range, and intention of her journey.

From spearheading Climate Diplomat’s COP29 New Haven two-week speaker series and climate art exhibition at The Table & Gallery, to contributing to interdisciplinary initiatives including the Japanese Bee Project, environmental storytelling collaborations, and cultural preservation efforts, Camila has consistently shown what becomes possible when artistic practice meets ecological inquiry.

She also played a key role in The Table & Gallery’s collaborative exhibition with the Connecticut Audubon Society, integrating ecological research with artistic interpretation and helping translate environmental knowledge into a language people could feel, not just study.

Her public scholarship has continued to expand, including a Channel 8 interview with Emmy-winning journalist , further amplifying her voice at the intersection of art, climate, and culture.

To everyone who has held space for her work, thank you 🙏

As Camila closes her chapter at University and prepares to continue her journey at the Royal College of Art in London
The Table & Gallery remains committed to supporting, advocating for, and amplifying her work.

To watch an artist evolve is one of the greatest privileges of this work.

To walk beside her as she steps into the world is an even greater one.

Congratulations, .isabelle.studio 👏

A warm congratulations to graduate Cara Chong on receiving two thesis prizes from two different majors; a remarkable recognition of her range, dedication, and intellect.

Cara was selected as one of three HSHM students to receive the Manuelidis Prize for her thesis in the field of history of medicine, and she also received the Lily Rosen Prize in Women’s Health, awarded annually for the best essay contributing to knowledge about women’s health.

Her thesis exhibition, centered on women’s reproductive rights, carries a profound resonance: honoring the histories, bodies, voices, and lived experiences of women across generations. It reminds us that women’s health is not only a field of study, but a deeply human story; one shaped by care, autonomy, memory, intellect, and the courage to ask necessary questions.

It is an honor and privilege for The Table & Gallery to hold space for young minds who bring together art, ideas, intellect, and scholarship: transforming research into visual and written knowledge for the world to experience.

Congratulations, Cara 👏Your work reflects what becomes possible when creativity, discipline, and intellect meet.

There are artists you meet at a moment in time.

And then there are artists you have the privilege of watching become.

Camila Young has grown with The Table & Gallery, and it has been both an honor and a privilege to witness her journey.

From the early stages of her practice to her second collection, Distractions of Abstraction, Camila’s work has deepened with rare emotional intelligence.

Her paintings do not use abstraction to escape reality. They return us to it; through memory, perception, nature, and the quiet, complex spaces language cannot fully hold.

This new body of work marks a powerful evolution: layered, atmospheric, deeply human, and unafraid of ambiguity. It asks the question:
“Is there a beauty to abstracting reality, or is it dangerous?”

As Camila Young closes her chapter at Yale University and prepares to continue her journey at the Royal College of Art in London, The Table & Gallery remains committed to supporting, advocating for, and amplifying her work.

To watch an artist evolve is one of the greatest privileges of this work.

To walk beside her as she steps into the world is an even greater one.

Congratulations, Camila. This is only the beginning.

Art is medicine.

In our interview with transdisciplinary artist Santiago Cumplido del Castillo, we explore how his work reminds us that art is not only something we observe, but something we experience, feel, and carry within the body.

Through voice, movement, painting, and performance, Santiago invites us into a deeper relationship with presence, perception, and transformation.

His practice highlights the importance of art as a pathway for healing, reflection, and human connection, a reminder that creativity can open spaces words alone cannot reach.

At The Table & Gallery, we believe art has the power to reframe narratives, regulate attention, and create moments of meaning.
