This upcoming Saturday night (April 25) NATB presents its last show of the season. The show features Grammy Award winner and a current Grammy Award nominee Clay Ross, a founding member of our beloved Ranky Tanky. Clay has formed a creative, inventive group named American Patchwork Quartet. Beautiful harmonies, innovative music styles and a visit from one of the most favorite artists who have come to the NATB. Please join us for this last concert of the season. It promises to be an unforgettable night.

On Saturday, March 25 NATB hosts its final show of this shortened season and in fact its history. The show features a great friend of NATB Clay Ross who was one of the founders of Ranky Tanky. His current touring group is American Patchwork Quartet whose mission is to reclaim the immigrant soul of American Roots Music. It promises to be a special evening and a great sendoff to the series. The post on this page created by the Library has the details. Don't miss it.

The show featuring Kenny White opens at 700 pm for the doors. Concert starts at 7:30. Don’t miss it.

Good things seem to keep happening for the band that has struck the hearts of our NATB supporters.... Ranky Tanky. The PBS Newshour ran a feature piece on the band and the music tradition that they have celebrated - Gullah music. Enjoy it and revel in the experience we had in watching them emerge...

Grammy-winning Ranky Tanky is a band with a mission to honor Gullah culture

Greetings to all you NATB supporters…

COVID 19 brought two sold out shows to the Beekley to a close in March & April of this year. On that week before the James Maddock show in Mid-March ,the Beekley officials and I struggled to understand what this COVID 19 thing was. Looking back, the decision to cancel those two shows appears to have been the right thing to do. I appreciated the outpouring of support that you communicated to me after the decision.

Now we fast forward to Season 14 which typically opens in October and proceeds from there. The simple fact is that hallmark of the series has been the intimacy among the members of the crowd and their access to the performers. That intimacy has created some memorable evenings for the crowd and for the performers. I know it is why many of our performers love to come back. Substantial progress has been made in Connecticut in mitigating the effects of the virus but nonetheless it remains active and on all of our minds.

I continue to think of many alternates - smaller audiences, spaced seating, and others. But with all that said, the simple fact is that none of us is ready for concerts this fall. So for now and the fall, my announcement is that we are simply cancelling the October and November shows of what will be Season 14. As conditions change and/or warrant, we will be in touch. You can check into our page (Nights at the Beekley) for any more current information.

In the meantime, some very talented people recorded some of our concerts over a 3 season cycle. The results of that are on YouTube with various artists. You simple search for Nights at the Beekley and they will come up. Darrell Scott’s famous encore on that old broken down piano is there. Truly a treasure.

I hope this finds you all well. And I’m hopeful that we may come together some time in the future.

Best

David Sessions

I just learned that these two well known singer-songwriters have spent some of the time providing a welcome platform for some of their favorite artists in a show entitled Sad Songs Quarantine Hour. It is a delight to listen to as you have some humor while expanding your taste in music. We hope you give it a try.

This rendering of a song by James Taylor and his family left me deeply moved... The power of songwriting and performing ones music is transcendent.
