I love in-home sessions so much. But when THIS is the setting that calls to you for your newborn photos, I am IN.

When we put little Rowan in the basket, I watched as these two leaned over him, completely smitten. They laughed at every tiny expression, glanced at each other with the sweetest smiles, and were just completely soaking up this little person they made.

We know that these are the moments that baby won’t remember, but that they will never forget. Memories were being made right in front of me. And I just love witnessing that.

Just a small collection of some of my winteriest in-home sessions over the years đŸ„°

Let me tell you why a holiday in-home mini is my favorite kind. Hot take maybe? But when it comes to true holiday memories, the best ones aren’t made at a pretty location. They’re made at home. Baking the same cookies, decorating gingerbread houses, pulling out ornaments with years of history, cuddling on the couch
 the list gets bigger every year.

And this year might be the best time to preserve the traditions your family is creating right now, in the same place where so many of them have already been made. Years from now, you won’t need to remember what everyone’s outfit looked like and where they stood for 10 minutes. You’ll want to remember what home felt like each year during the “cozy season”.

These are the ordinary moments I always talk about that quietly become the ones you miss most. This is why in-home sessions are an absolute favorite.

What I love most about being a “storytelling photographer” is how many different families let me into their lives to witness the little pieces of who they are. Not just how they look together, but how they are together.

Every family has their own rhythm, their own quirks, their own way of loving each other, and I never want your photos to feel like they could belong to anybody else.

Your life doesn’t need to look picture perfect to be worth photographing. It just needs to look like yours.

It doesn’t matter if this is your first baby, your second, or your fifth, every pregnancy deserves to be remembered.

Each one holds its own story. A different version of you. A different little person already so deeply loved. A different chapter for your family.

You may have done this before, but you’ve never carried this baby before. And if this is your first, you know you’ve never experienced moments like these. Someday, they’ll ask for these photos. And they’ll deserve to see just how loved they were, even before you met them.

Before you will all of those sleepless nights and slow, dragging days to pass as quickly as possible, make sure you capture the parts of them you wish didn’t.

Because eventually we’re all left with snippets of memories, tired bodies, and the word, “how”.

Now excuse me while I go sob over my youngest about to start kindergarten when I felt like his hands were this tiny yesterday 😭
