There is something about motherhood that strips a woman down to what is eternal.

I’ve seen that motherhood is built mostly in the hidden places. In the early mornings before the sun rises. In the rocking chair. In the kitchen light late. In prayers whispered over sleeping children. In being poured out again and again and somehow finding, by the grace of God, there is still more to give.

These children are not mine to keep forever. They are arrows. Souls. Little lives entrusted to our hands for a moment.

And someday, when the house is quieter and the little shoes are no longer by the door, I do not think I will remember the exhaustion nearly as much as I will remember the glory of having been called “Mama!”.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women quietly building homes, carrying burdens, loving sacrificially, and planting seeds they may never fully see bloom this side of Heaven. 💗
