Parents and Coaches,
I wanted to take a quick minute and comment on the practice schedules and field conditions for this week.
All coaches should have reached out to you by now and shared their practice schedule. Typically, they'll use the GameChanger App or a group text thread. The in-house and travel game schedules are not completed yet, but the first weekend of games is Sept 12-13.
As far as field conditions go... we have received more than 7" of rain through the first 17 days of this month. Park management, municipalities and our contractors are doing their best to keep up with it. As you can imagine, they are behind schedule on most properties and RAYSA is not always on the top of their priority list. We know the grass is high. Our goal as a league is to give our players safe, playable field conditions, but we are at the mercy of some of these organizations. To answer your follow up question, no you cannot take your personal tractor to Palmer and start cutting....
I want to share their grass cutting schedules they try to adhere to, but this is all weather permitting.
Palmer Park- Donora City Maintenance- Every Tuesday morning
Vine St- Private contractor- Every Monday, and now twice per week to keep up
St. Andrews- Private contractor- every Thursday
New Eagle- Ringgold SD contractor- TBD (no answer from emails)
Union/Finley- UF TWP- not sure
We are continuing to work with them to make sure our fields are properly maintained. We have a request in to Palmer to do more than once per week, especially leading up to the season, however, it is very swampy there as of today. Our board members are constantly checking on the fields to make sure they are safe for the kids.
Email [email protected] with any questions.
Best,
Bryan
