Long Bio (226 words):
I'm Karen Parry, the founder of Kaz and Kika. A life spent across multiple continents has deeply influenced my creative vision as an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer. Born and raised in Australia, its bright colors, harsh light, and striking landscapes continue to inspire my work. My creative journey started at the Queensland College of Art in Brisbane, where I studied photography but after a few years working as a photographer, I switched to graphic design. In 1988, I moved to Berlin, Germany, and in late 1989, I had a front-row seat to history – the fall of the Berlin Wall. While I was there, I worked as Art Director for The Edge and later the berliner. As the city changed, so did my path, which led me across the globe – first to San Francisco and then to New York – each city leaving its mark on my work. Alongside my illustration practice, I run Black Graphics, my graphic design studio, where I bring my love of composition and typography to all my projects. And as part of my journey, I’ve been lucky to share my expertise through teaching roles in photography, design, and typography in Sydney, San Francisco, and New York. Now based in New York, my art blends urban energy with the vibrant colors of my Australian roots. Take a look at my work at kazandkika.com!

Garlic Chives

A beautifully patterned watering can pours life into a vibrant garden, where colorful flowers bloom alongside delicate garlic chives. A playful butterfly flits above, adding a touch of whimsy to the scene. The bold colors and engaging design invite you to appreciate the beauty of nature and the simple pleasures of nurturing a garden. This piece is a delightful addition to any room, bringing a sense of warmth and creativity to your decor.

A question for April: if someone walked into your home and had to describe how it felt without referencing the furniture or the decor (just the feeling) what would you want them to say?

That answer has a lot to do with the work you choose for your walls. Art sets the emotional tone in a way that paint and furniture rarely can.

Would love to hear your answer in the comments. And if you are still working toward that feeling, "Playful Heart Among Stars" might be worth a look.

Earth Day is a good time to think about how we consume, and art is part of the conversation.

Investing in something made with care, designed to last, and tied to a specific practice is a great way to engage in mindful consumption. My work is made to last.

"Tamar Tamarind" is that kind of work. Happy Earth Day!

There is a reason people often buy art during transitions. A new home. A new chapter. The end of something or the beginning of something else.

Art has always served as a personal marker, a way of saying, "This is where I was when I chose this." Your collection of wall art sort of becomes your biography.

What chapter are you in right now?

Would "Scatter Hearts" be a good fit?

World Art Day is a good reminder that art is not a finished thing. It's a practice. One that continues because people choose to be part of it.

My collectors are collaborators in that sense. I make the art, they give it a home.

"Decode in Blue" exists in my studio until someone brings it into a place that means something to them.

Let's collaborate. Get 25% off through Saturday. Code ARTDAY26.
