Headliner Profile - baez
After moving to Miami in 2001 from the Dominican Republic, an obsession for collecting electronic music soon side-tracked his computer animation studies and paved the way for his newfound music career.
A vast knowledge of music genres is what separates baez from many other artists; aptly summed by Miami New Times as the “hardest-working DJ in Miami”. FriskyRadio editor, Lauren Krieger shares “Unlimited by genre, but with a smooth, definitively underground feel, baez provides a deeper message through his music, with stories interwoven through sounds that go beyond the ordinary and ask the audience to take a breath, get lost in the music, and just enjoy the moment.”. baez is truly one of those artists with the rare ability to tell a story and with this growing success as a genre-spanning DJ he was recognized in 2013 as Miami New Times “Best DJ”.
Shortly after, he burst onto the production scene in 2014 after the release of “Gorilla Tango” on Chris Fortier’s long-running label, Fade Records. A two-track EP that flaunts enviable range and seems to go against his youthful years as a producer. After a string of successive releases on various labels, in 2018, he had his biggest breakthrough with a remix of Pavel Svetlove’s “Under Your Skin” on Canadian-based label, L’enfant Terrible, which reached #39 in Beatport’s top 100 deep house chart and boded a lot of support from top Dj’s.
With the launch of his record label Minds Alike and upcoming releases on highly respected labels such as Nie Wieder Schlafen, baez is setting himself up for a breakout year.
