Coronavirophobia

By now we all know how serious is the outbreak of the new coronavirus known as covid-19. It has been defined as the fastest spreading and contagious virus of our times, that no other disease spreads like it. The speed and pace at which it spreads has fueled extreme fear in humanity. We are all scared and afraid from contracting it. With all that in mind, the drastic measures and tough restrictions imposed by almost all countries worldwide including isolation, quarantines, staying home and social distancing has deepen our fears. This dramatic situation has given rise to What I will describe as Coronavirophobia.
Coronavirophobia is the fear of coronavirus. Or it is the fear of being infected with coronavirus. We see it in every corner, we suspect anybody who sneezes, cough or clear his throat. it lingers everywhere we go. it hunts us in our sleep. It is the talk of everybody. The fear of everyone.

Creativity in tough times.

As the whole world braces for tough measures and strict restrictions to combat the new coronavirus. Our freedom has also been somehow put on hold. everybody has been asked to stay home and outdoor activities have been limited. Entire businesses have been brought to a halt. Productivity is at its lowest levels of all times. Thousands of people have been laid off. Economies are on the brink of collapse. Humanity is being tested. But how can we cope with all these global changes that has dramatically impacted our daily lives and pushed us into an unknown period of passiveness and inactivity. Creativity is the key to fight the boredom of passive life. Creativity in tough times gives us life and get us going regardless of what is taking place around us. Let us turn passivity and boredom into productivity and creativity while we are staying home. Let us stand up to the toughness of these times by putting our cognitive skills into work and action. Let us invest our free time in reading , writing, innovating and creating. Let us refresh our memories and brains and give them another chance to recreate. Tough times have always served as a lesson to humanity. It is a human experience that inspires discipline, patience, endurance and creativity. We are what we are because of the number of crises and predicaments we have encountered during our life journey since early humans. we are the product of tough times.

Fear , awareness and cornoavirus

Fear gives us life, being afraid of the right things has kept our ancestors alive. It makes sense to be afraid of poisonous objects or infectious diseases.
So what about fear when there is a global threat to our kind. Awareness feeds our fear and it becomes the key in our struggle to fight for survival. Humanity has woke up these days on a new and fast spreading virus that has been declared as a global pandemic by the world health organization. In every corner of our planet one or two people have been already infected. In some nations emergency states have been declared. The race is so intense either to stop the virus or contain its quick spread.
Promoting awareness among people by taking precautionary and safety measures is one of the necessary steps in the fight to stop the contagious disease from being widely spread and affecting more people. Awareness is the key to everything and fear has feed its amount in our consciousnesses. In every aspect of the current situation we see its manifestation in our daily activities. From keeping high self hygiene to staying away from close contact with each other. The level of alertness has been raised to its peak in attempt to curb the disease. Quarantines have been imposed worldwide and big gatherings have been shut down temporarily.
The media craze has fueled our fear and increased our awareness. Fear and awareness have become the driving forces of any behavioral change.

Writing versus photography in our times

With the advent of digital technology, our lives have changed tremendously. A new form of communication and documentation has revolutionized the way we live. Whenever and wherever we go, anybody can snap a photo of something he likes or anything worth remembering. Photography has become the new addiction of our times, especially with smart phones at our fingertips. Nothing worth picturing can evade our attention, at different occasions, scenes or events. Of course nobody can deny the influence and impact of photography in shaping the modern life. But does anybody who photographs writes ?. Writing is completely different and it involves a lot of cognitive skills to come up with thoughts and ideas to express a certain topic. It takes a lot of efforts and brain energy to write a good and well expressive article. Everyone can take photos but not anyone can write. Human history has been shaped by the amount of writing that has been produced by writers, thinkers and historians. It has travelled a long way and still shapes our modern times. Photography on the other hand is a recent form of communication and documentation that adds to writing. Writing comes from within and it is a mere product of the brain mixed with a blend of emotions and feelings.
In central park, our community can take countless pictures and photos everywhere but a few can come up with well written articles and posts that translate what is happening in words. Photography has made us lazy to express ourselves in words by resorting to pictures and photos. But photos aren't always enough to express our thoughts and ideas. It always needs illustration by adding a few words to describe photos.
I personally view writing as a complete creative task of the human brain while photography involves a third party which is the digital camera or smart phone.

Debunking the myth of the `friends fountain` in central park

Duped `Friends` Fans flock to fountain which has nothing to do with the show. At one of the most popular sights in central park, cherry hill, sits in the middle a small fountain, tourists come in different types of transpositions, some on horse drawn carriages, on pedicabs, by bicycle and some on foot to snap photos at the fountain by mimicking the same dancing and jumping we all have seen at the opening music of the popular American Sitcom series friends.Thousands of visitors mistakenly assume or think they are doing that at the real exact physical fountain in the show. All this is because of the false legends that spread over the years in central park surrounding this fountain. Pioneer guides or sales persons have spread this false information and has been passed from generations to generations of tour guides, especially in pedicab tours. You hear it all the time when you visit the park, till it has become like an established fact.
But the truth of the matter that there is no `Friends` Fountain in central park, the whole thing was made up and it has attracted storytellers for all these years.
In fact, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey and Ross' famous fountain dance in the opening scene of the show was filmed at The Warner Bros Studio in Los Angeles,California, and not in central park as many people think.

Not all the tours in central park are equal

Something got me thinking while doing this for years. Are we all equal at giving the same tour in central park. By the word tour, I am particularly referring to the guided tour that we give visitors to central park on pedicabs. For more than 15 years, pedicab touring in central park has gained popularity and more and more people are starting to opt for it as a way to sight see and explore the park. Unlike the horse drawn carriage which is more of a traditional ride in central park, pedicab tours stand out as a new way of transportation that pretty much focus on exploring and sightseeing central park in real sense with a hop on hop off style. Ever since things have evolved and the ambiance has changed. Today there are way too many guys doing this job and each is claiming himself or herself to be a special tour guide, or sometimes even to point that he is the best tour guide in central park. That is such a bold claim, isn't it ? Throughout many years of operating a pedicab in central park and giving tours to different clients, I have listened , heard and witnessed many coworkers giving tours. The conclusion is that not all the tours are equal, and the service is not the same, the ratings go from poor to excellent. It does really matter who you go or ride with when embarking on a central park experience. But how on earth, I am , as a visitor from a different part of the world know which tour guide is the best or fits the criteria. Based on my humble experience which spans for a little over eight years I devised some useful and working tips when deciding to pick up somebody for a pedicab tour in central park whether is it online or in person by the park:

*-The language communicated : to enjoy a very productive tour with all the details to be learned, one should be equipped with great enough linguistic skills and eloquence to deliver an amazing tour. Express to impress.

*-The mastery of sales pitch presentation: the tour guide pitching you about his service has to show excellent mastery and confidence in what he is offering.

*-Interaction with clients and ability to answer their questions to your best.

*-Look out for inflated sales pitches and magnified presentations that promise a lot but the reality shows a little.

*-No friends fountain sales pitch, every sale that includes the friends fountain is hyped up, since there is no friends fountain in central park.
*-Pricing: average pricing of the famous one hour tour remains between 120 and 150 dollars for quality tours in central park.
I hope this will help benefit people looking for transparent and accurate information regarding central park pedicab tours.

My name is Rabi, served and still as a tour guide in central park for more than eight years. I do my best to serve my clients and people who book with me by providing them with a well deserved and satisfying experience. I also write and post articles on my page from time to time in which I share my experiences, visions , and feelings about central park and anything related. And by doing so, I open some eyes and raise awareness about many related issues in this regard.

Hooked on pedicab

Is it coincidence or destiny. Not far from central park, two blocks away, midtown 7th avenue, serving clients in a restaurant as a barista. from time to time comes in some guys with big laminated maps of central park in their hands, on the other side of it printed pictures of horse drawn carriages and pedicabs. not really aware of what is going on and as usual taking things for granted I never asked. but being friendly and talkative has made me some friends in central park working as pedicab drivers. I have no idea then. with the flow of days and time and from the series of talks and conversation I hold with these guys when buying coffee from me.Some of them proposed to me the idea of doing pedicab, there is more money to be made in this field and on top of that freedom. Obsessed by the idea of being my own boss I took the first step and I quit my job. First I started hanging out around these guys to get an idea and learn how things work. I did ask a lot of questions and I was guided. Two weeks later, my journey started as a pedicab operator in central park. A learning experience that spans for a little over eight years in central park, a process of trial and error until I sharpened my edges. Through it all I pride myself by gaining the experience and expertise necessary to deliver a well deserved and satisfying service to clients who choose to go with me.

Ride with the professionals with years of experience when planing to visit central park.
