When we can’t follow through, it’s easy to blame ourselves or try to push harder.

Low Capacity — What It Is

Low capacity is when your system can’t take on much, because it’s focused on keeping you safe and steady.

That can look like overwhelm, irritability, anxious buzzing, shutting down, or feeling like everything is just too much.

When this happens, it’s your body asking you to be gentle with yourself.

What supports low-capacity moments isn’t force — it’s gentleness:

• do one thing (not ten)
• lower stimulation where you can
• ask for support
• let good enough be enough

Gentleness builds safety.
Safety supports regulation.
Regulation creates capacity.

Capacity = how much you can handle right now before you feel overwhelmed.

Example:
Some days you can work, run errands, make dinner, and help your kids.
Other days, answering one text feels like too much.

That difference is CAPACITY.
