Threading Time and Place opens in one month !

These “pretty” items made in Rhode Island’s historic mills from exploited labor, in the eyes of colonial aesthetics, on the backs of immigrants, to pollute the rivers, for the sake of the industrial revolution and the rise of the new and “true” American identity, and most importantly, the American dollar.

THURSDAY!

Spend a day with the artists at ccsu! Visiting artists and will be leading a series of workshops and lectures followed by a closing reception of Tangled Roots in the Chen Art Gallery. Free snacks AND debut of the exhibition catalog. Stop by while supplies last!

Please note all of our artists workshops are FULL for participants, but you are welcome to stop in to check out what all the artists are making.

What Is Art That Breathes lecture will take place in Alumni Hall at 4pm, then we will walk over to the Chen Art Gallery for the closing reception.

The gallery will be open from 11am-6:30 pm and there is series of additional events hosted by CCSU’s Sustainability Symposium.

All events are free and open to the public. Join for one, all, or as many as you can!

I am honored to work with all of these incredible artists, and also want to share a very special shout out to our gallery director , gallery staff, and wonderful curatorship students who put in many extra hours to get this show on the road no matter what Mother Nature had in store for us this winter!

TANGLED ROOTS OPENS THIS WEEK!

Opening Reception AND Artist Panel Discussion THURSDAY March 5th from 4-6:30pm!

Save the date for A Day with the Artists Thursday April 9th! Featuring artist workshops, lectures, and closing reception with the debut of our exhibition catalog. Message me or visit ccsu.edu/chenartgallery for more details.

My goal in curating this exhibition was to select an array of works which reclaim and reframe the long-contested relationship between gender and nature in the context of fifth wave feminism and celebrate the power of intergenerational knowledge, performance, and relationships.

Exhibition is on view through April 10th. Gallery hours are Mondays 12-4, and Tuesday-Friday 11-4, or by appointment.
