Lock One Community Arts

Lock One Community Arts World class professional performances for your enjoyment brought right to your doorstep! Lock One Community Arts (LOCA), is a non-profit organization.

LOCA Mission Statement: The mission of the Lock One Community Arts is to educate, inspire, entertain, and culturally enrich the people of West Central Ohio by providing quality and affordable access to a wide range of performing arts. We were formed in 2001 by three couples with the intent of bringing live professional stage performances to the West Central Ohio region. This group exists through t

he support of faithful sponsors, season pass holders, ticket sales, and generous contributions from businesses and friends. All activity is governed by an all-volunteer board composed of a dedicated group of local individuals who generously give their time and talents. This support of LOCA is vital to ensure that high quality artistry continues to be provided in our local area. All performances of LOCA are presented in the intimate theater setting of the James F. Dicke Auditorium located inside the New Bremen High School. This 474 seat theater is handicap accessible with easy, free parking near the doors. The theater is equipped with a digital sound system and all new digital lighting throughout. LOCA works closely with the New Bremen School Administration to maintain the high quality of this theater. The LOCA Board also works diligently each year to provide a variety of family friendly performing arts productions to this area. LOCA is particularly proud of its education branch called Pinwheel Productions. Through this venture, specially selected live performances are provided at no cost to approximately 1,400 K-8th grade students in ten area schools. This is achieved through the generosity of local sponsors. Each year groups of K-2, 3-5, & 6-8 are invited to the James F. Dicke Auditorium to experience a live, curriculum appropriate, educational show. On occasion, a special music, theatrical, or educational performance is offered for students in 9-12 grades. All performances are offered in close cooperation with the invited schools’ administration.

We were also able to present our scholarships today. Winning the Scott Kuenning scholarship was Sam Homan from New Bremen High School. Addison Blindauer, from Botkins High School, was the recipient of the Dan Keyes scholarship. Both were very worthy recipients and we wish them much luck in the future!

We spent last Sunday enjoying the sounds of the H***y Tonk Chicks! Their performance was lively and full of energy. From their line dancing lessons to their final curtain call, we were smiling from ear to ear!

Birmingham, Alabama’s ACT OF CONGRESS melted away Ohio’s frigid winter chill last Sunday with dynamic acoustics and heavenly vocals that brought tidings of comfort and joy. Technical mastery and creative innovation gave classic Christmas melodies delightful and surprising twists. Uplifting gospel songs and light-hearted banter were welcome additions to the sensory palate.
Appreciation and gratitude to all the Lock One Community Arts sponsors and patrons. Merry Christmas!
