✨ ONE LETTER AT A TIME... FOR 84 YEARS. ✨

For 84 years, the Brauntex marquee has been a familiar sight in the heart of downtown New Braunfels, announcing thousands of performances, celebrations and special messages along the way.

But behind all those letters were PEOPLE. ❤️

Over the decades, staff members, volunteers and friends of the Brauntex carefully changed the marquee by hand, one letter at a time. We’ve heard stories of people climbing out the window to change the letters, ladders being used in the early years, and, more recently, the long marquee pole you see our Facilities Manager, Jason Montalbo, using here. Every message took time, a steady hand and someone behind the scenes to make it happen.

As our historic marquee begins an exciting new chapter, we want to celebrate the people who were part of this longtime Brauntex tradition!

Today, as our new marquee lights up the Brauntex, its message carries a special meaning as we honor the extraordinary life and legacy of Dolly Parton.🦋

For generations, Dolly’s music has been woven into the moments that make up our lives. Her songs gave voice to love and heartache, hope and resilience, while her kindness and generosity reminded us that a life well lived is measured not only by what we accomplish, but by what we give to others.

Dolly once said, “If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.” She gave the world so many reasons to smile, and her music will continue to bring people together for generations to come.✨
