Do you miss participating in live theatre? AUDITION!!

WE: A Coming of Age Festival is accepting audition videos. Deadline for submissions are April 9, 2021.
MUST be 13-19 years old by July 9th.

WE: A Coming of Age Festival was originally slated to open last year, but due to the pandemic we were forced to postpone the show. We are recasting the show and will be opening this July!!!!
Our Saax Bradbury Players are bringing to life something the New Bern Civic Theatre has never seen before. This show will feature the original works of teenagers across North Carolina. It will conclude with the 15 minute mini musical written by Lin Manuel Miranda: 21 Chump Street.

All people auditioning must prepare 1-2 minutes of monologue. All monologues must be contemporary (NO SHAKESPEARE). You can choose to do one or two. If you choose to do two, please pick two contrasting monologues that showcase your range as an actor.
**An example of 2 contrasting monologues is one comedic and one dramatic**

Additionally, if auditioning for the musical, 21 Chump Street, prepare 32 bars of a song that you believe showcases your range and vocal abilities.

Below you will find a short description of the one acts in our show. Please read through this to get an idea of what you should choose as your audition materials.

21 Chump Street by Lin Manuel Miranda - Based on a true story, this broadway mini musical tells a cautionary tale of a high school honors student who falls for a cute transfer girl. He goes to great lengths to oblige her request for ma*****na in the hopes of winning her affection -- only to find out his crush is actually an undercover cop planted in the school to find drug dealers.
*Musical audition required (see above)*
*one female, one male, one narrator, mixed ensemble*

Universal Love by Kaytlyn Dawson - spoken word
*dancers and speakers needed*

Change One Thing by Katie Livingston - spoken word

Shine by Maia Weatherly - spoken word

The spoken word poems are non gender specific. We will be casting based on monologue performance.

Rehearsals will begin late April. Show dates are July 9-18 (weekends). You must also be available July 24 and 25 for an additional presentation as an outreach to underserved communities in surrounding areas. We will be traveling to off-sight locations for this special presentation per a grant from the Anonymous Trust.
