Exciting progress continues inside historic Lowthrop Hall at St. John’s Lodge No. 3!
As our work has progressed, this project has become much more than simply repairing and redecorating a room. Layer by layer, Lowthrop Hall has begun revealing pieces of its own history.
During the repairs, we discovered evidence of historic paint colors that once adorned the Hall. Rather than covering over those discoveries, we are using them to help guide the restoration, bringing historically appropriate colors back into the room while making the necessary repairs to preserve it for generations to come.
In the absence of old pictures, there is something remarkable about allowing a building of this age to help tell us what it once looked like.
Our goal is not to make Lowthrop Hall new. It is to let its history shine again—to preserve its character, honor the craftsmen and Brothers who came before us, and ensure that this special place continues to serve St. John’s Lodge No. 3 well into the future.
There is still work to be done, but with each repair, each carefully chosen detail, and each newly restored surface, Lowthrop Hall is beginning to tell its story again.
