Confession time: This is embarrassing as a professional artist, but I used to buy my “art” from HomeGoods. 😅
Back then, I had no idea how simple (and rewarding!) it is to buy original pieces straight from real artists. I thought big stores like HomeGoods, Target, or Michaels were the go-to for home decor.
But here’s the truth: those mass-produced prints are often unoriginal, made with lower-quality materials, and can cost just as much (or more!) than supporting an actual creator.
Even worse? Some big retailers have been caught ripping off independent artists’ designs without permission or credit—straight-up copyright theft that hurts real people trying to make a living. Unacceptable. 🚫🎨
Once I learned better, I made the switch: I only buy directly from reputable artists (or paint my own walls with originals!).
How do you spot the real deal?

Be an informed collector and skip the cookie-cutter stuff. Your walls (and the artists) will thank you! 💛
