Kristina Bird did a fantastic job touching up these Martin Friedman (1896-1980) paintings for me! I love Friedman’s light and color! His work is notoriously hard to photograph so these quick iPhone pictures do not do justice. Friedman’s best work was always hard to come by. It turns out the estate was languishing in a barn in rural New York State. Beginning two years ago some 300 works were offered by an auction house way out in Pine Bush; I missed the first one but cherry-picked the next seven. I think all the ones that needed a bit of fixing have been fixed so I will start marketing them; maybe I’ll bring a few framed ones to open studios this next weekend!
