The Indiana University Southeast Music Department and the Ogle Center are pleased to present a FREE Fiddle Workshop for middle and high school string students featuring Grammy® Award-winning artists Mark and Maggie O’Connor on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 2–4 p.m. at the Ogle Center at IU Southeast, 4201 Grant Line Road in New Albany. Those wishing to participate must register at go.iu.edu/fiddle

Open to students who play violin, viola, cello, or bass, this unique hands-on workshop welcomes participants of all experience levels. Students are asked to bring their instruments, while all other materials will be provided.

The workshop is free of charge, made possible through the generous support of Patty Cress, and offers a rare opportunity for young musicians in the region to learn directly from two of today’s most influential American string artists.

Mark O’Connor, a fiddling prodigy turned groundbreaking composer, is widely recognized for shaping a distinctly American classical sound by blending folk, jazz, and classical traditions. A three-time Grammy winner and recipient of seven Country Music Association Awards, his works are among the most performed contemporary compositions for strings. Joining him is Maggie O’Connor, an acclaimed violinist and former member of the Grammy-winning O’Connor Band, known for her dynamic performances across classical, bluegrass, and global stages.

REGISTRATION for this free workshop is REQUIRED.
