NAMS Empty Bowls

On April 20, 2017 the community will come together to serve and eat a simple meal in order to raise money for families in need within our community.

In an effort to raise awareness about the issues of hunger in and around our community, the middle school Art department has decided to participate in an international project called Empty Bowls. This project provides an opportunity to bring awareness to an issue throughout academic and artistic disciplines. Empty Bowls is a charitable concept that allows artists and groups to create and donate bo

wls, then serve a simple meal. Guests of the event choose a bowl to eat from and then keep as a reminder of all the empty bowls still left in the world. In exchange for the meal and bowl, guests contribute a suggested minimum donation. One hundred percent of each meal's proceeds will be donated to families in need within our district as well as a local organization that will reach families who live within our district but may not have school age children. The name for this program is used with permission from the Imagine Render group, a 501c3 non-profit organization. Their mission is to "create positive and lasting change through the arts, education, and projects that build community. Our major project is the Empty Bowls Project, an international grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger. This project represents what we do best—develop creative, exciting, and powerful models that are replicable and scalable by others wishing to work for social justice."

If you were missing painting a bowl for Empty Bowls this year, this is your chance to paint a bowl, help the New Albany Food Pantry, & enjoy time with your neighbors!

Empty Bowls this Friday!
As part of the 20 Year Celebration and Summer Movie Series, we have partnered with the New Albany Food Pantry to host our final bowl painting night on July 26th during the movie night festivities. Bowls are just $10 each and proceeds are donated to combat hunger and raise awareness of the New Albany Food Pantry. Participants will receive a bowl, glaze and brushes to paint their masterpiece. Bowl pick-up will occur during a future New Albany Farmer's Market in August.

Couldn’t make it to our Empty Bowls event last week and missed your chance to purchase a raffle ticket for your chance to win a bowl signed by Columbus Blue Jackets and Crew players? Tickets will be on sale at the Healthy New Albany Office through next week! Drawing will be held on May 11th. All proceeds benefit the New Albany Food Pantry!

Thank you to all who attended our community dinner on Thursday! It was a great success, due to all of you! Updates to come on how you can pick up your bowl if you weren’t able to make it and also how to purchase raffle tickets for the celebrity bowls. If you have any photos from the event, we would love to see them!

324 bowls ready for Thursday night! Still more work to finish up tomorrow, but we’re close! Hope you’re able to join us- 5-7pm In the MS cafe. $10 for some great food and a bowl to take home. $20 for raffle tickets for a chance to win a signed bowl by Crew, Columbus Blue Jackets players, and NA’s own pro tennis player Francesca Di Lorenzo! All proceeds go to the New Albany Food Pantry to help our friends and neighbors ❤️

Our first paint night is this coming Tuesday, January 30th!
Cost is $10 and includes a bowl to paint, all supplies, and the community dinner on April 12th. Join us in the middle school art rooms from 3:30-7:30 pm. We hope to see you there! Walk-ins welcome!

Tomorrow night is the night! We hope to see you all for our 8th Empty Bowls community dinner in the Middle School cafe from 5-8! Come and enjoy a simple meal with food from our wonderful donors, enjoy each others company, and pick out a bowl to take home as a reminder of the empty bowls in our community.
All proceeds benefit the Village Coalition Against Hunger, our local food pantry that provides assistance for our neighbors
