Today’s Midday Momentum with Jess Staten gave us one of those moments that quietly says everything.
At one point during her talk about human connection in the digital age, Jess asked us to take out our phones and show the person next to us a photo of someone who brings us joy.
Before that prompt, the room was calm and fairly quiet. People were listening, but reserved.
And then suddenly:
people were laughing.
Smiling.
Leaning toward each other.
Sharing stories.
The whole energy of the room changed.
Jess pointed out something so simple but so powerful: even in a room full of people, genuine human connection changes our nervous systems. It wakes us up. It softens us. It reminds us we belong to each other.
Throughout the talk, she shared research and statistics around our growing need for in-person connection and the ways constant digital consumption impacts our relationships, focus, and wellbeing. She also gave practical ideas for disconnecting from our phones and becoming more present in everyday life.
Honestly… it was so good we immediately asked her to come back for another Midday Momentum in June. 🌿
These are the kinds of conversations that stay with you long after the event ends.
