WE NEED YOUR HELP PROTECTING OUR PARKS

Our Parks Maintenance Department is consistently having to clean park restrooms that have been vandalized, damaged, or left in unacceptable condition. Sadly, what you see in this photo is mild compared to some of what our staff has dealt with this year.

These parks belong to all of us, and we need the community's help protecting them.

The City is working toward purchasing upgraded security cameras in the 2027 budget year. Our current cameras have very limited resolution, making it difficult to clearly identify individuals involved in vandalism and other illegal activity.

In the meantime, you can help us be the eyes and ears of our parks. If you see suspicious or illegal activity (vandalism, drugs, alcohol, or individuals in the parks after hours) please report it.

Use the attached QR code, call or text the phone number provided to submit a report. Reports that are submitted are anonymous.

Please do not confront anyone or put yourself in an unsafe situation. Simply report what you see so the appropriate authorities can respond.

Our Parks Maintenance employees work hard every day to keep Nevada's parks clean, safe, and welcoming for our community. Every hour spent cleaning up vandalism is time that could have been spent improving our parks.

If you see something, say something. Together, we can protect our parks and keep them places our entire community can be proud of.

Thank you, citizens of Nevada, for helping us take care of YOUR parks.

The City of Nevada Parks & Recreation Department recently received a phone call expressing concern about the possibility of blue-green algae at Walton Lake.

We contacted the Missouri Department of Conservation, which manages the waterways at Walton Park and Radio Springs Park. An agent visited Walton Lake, inspected the algae, and identified it as filamentous algae—not blue-green algae.

According to the agent, the filamentous algae present at Walton Lake is not harmful to fish habitat, animals, or humans.

We appreciate the citizen who brought this concern to our attention. The safety of our residents, visitors, wildlife, and park environments is important to us, and we will continue to address concerns and work with the appropriate agencies when needed.

Thank you for helping us take care of our parks!
