Nelson County Community Orchestra’s mission is to provide high quality, affordable musical experiences for the people of Nelson County and neighboring communities in a welcoming, friendly, supportive, innovative, educational environment. Mission

The Nelson County Community Orchestra will provide an ongoing opportunity for the adults and youth of Nelson County and the surrounding areas to experie

nce the joy of playing music together, presenting free public concerts, in collaboration with other local arts groups, to create unique interactive performances that show case a variety of musical genres that will inspire, motivate and support a new generation of orchestral musicians. Vision--String Education Outreach

It is our hope that this orchestra will become a strong advocate for music education in our community by being an inspiration to the youth and adults who may want to pursue their musical interests. We look forward to helping our youth get access to affordable string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass) and music instruction in order that they may eventually have an opportunity to play in youth ensembles leading to other musical opportunities as they too become life-long learners and musicians who will play alongside musicians of all generations and walks of life. We are looking forward to professional musicians and instructors in our area taking an active role in the NCCO by providing additional educational and musical experiences for our orchestra participants through workshops, lessons, master classes and guest appearances.
