These are REAL photos taken in Arches National Park after dark. They are not Ai. I know we have to say these things nowadays.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way…let’s talk about how I’ve come to capture some of my most favorite comet photos ever!!☄️
First, I’ve gotta give major props to my good friend Mark Stewart for figuring out with teamwork the proper angle to frame this famous Arch using Planit Pro.
Both Mark and I have an insatiable appetite for lining up comets with interesting focal objects, both for us and for students. We set up multiple cameras and trackers to capture both the comet and the foreground at the same 400mm focal distance and blend the 2 together. We followed up those techniques for the remaining photos as well. They all have timelapses as well which I’ll share on separate post since FB doesn’t allow photos and videos on the same post.
Disclaimer: Light painting is prohibited in Arches National Park. The cover image captures illumination created by others that happened to be standing over near the arch…we do not know who they were and had no involvement, as the light appeared while we were photographing from a distance.
