This is a very nostalgic experience to go through again. 10 years last year was Casting Call's final months. I considered these the demo scenes that weren't really good enough for a channel or even for the actors, but they were free if you were a student for at least 3 months. The better ones are separate videos on the FlikerTheatre YT channel. So 6 short scenes that are flawed, but fun.

Happy New Years (don't forget to watch the ST Finale lol!)

I recently came across some old demo scenes I directed back when Casting Call Entertainment Acting School was operating from 2008-2015. I didn't really start...

Haven't posted on here in a while! xD

Back on my YouTube channel with a sizzle reel devoted to the NAB convention this year. This 2025 show was a bit of a let down because a lot of vendors/sales reps there are just worried about the tariffs affecting their ability to buy parts and there were less people there as a result. The ultra realistic LED screens were the star because now you don't need a green screen in post to add a background. You can buy one of these effing expensive screens and put it behind your actors/subjects and presto-- it looks like they're on a mountain and they can see it in the scene (at 3:18). This year also didn't have aerial silk dancers or gymnasts, so the coolest physical shots you can get are people hanging up TV screens, a guy almost tripping on the wheel of a case, a guy removing a Diet Coke bottle off the top of a tripod when he realized I was filming, and a guy at Arri with a big slice of pizza. In many ways, I recorded a day in the life. 😁

Highlights from this year's National Association of Broadcasters convention. This year's was a bit disappointing to be honest. There was less people...

I finally got this one edited a month after the Disney+ streaming release. Even though I spent a good couple weeks animating my short skit at 15:07 (which was zen), I noticed how difficult it was to explain the plot of this movie without getting really confused myself. Also, I'm really glad the YouTube scans didn't flag all my Disney clips. Guess my YouTube channel is considered legit 🙂 :

(Also my uncomfortable face in this thumbnail looks way too professional lol).

I think I forgot to post about this to market it more. Wayne is taking his time editing the podcast version, which is ok. I honestly ran out of steam to edit it (it has a decent number of clip examples) because that was the week my dad got admitted into the hospital, so finishing this became busy work and just a distraction. I was eager to wrap it up, but Wayne thinks it turned out really well -- even if I think this an edit at my bare creative minimum.

New Intro to my YouTube channel and website, gregvancottDotcom, with animated / rotoscoped look. Hopefully, I'll test out more skits and vlogs in animation because I wanna practice more in this medium and aesthetic. Also, the video has highlights of the channel... demos that are also tributes to mentors who have passed away like Harold "Vic" Hoagland, William McCullers and Rosemary Rock Klingler.

This is a new Intro Video to my channel, FlikerTheatre! With a new animated / rotoscoped (via AI) look for future vlogs and maybe skits as I've been wanting ...

I actually recorded this movie critique a few months ago at the end of 2022, but I waited to edit and post it till July 7th for the 25th anniversary of the 1998 Extended Director's Edition by Bradford May, which may have been the cut that was aired on primetime television for the Fox Network. That was before the more readily seen 1999 Sci-fi Channel cut. I had to re-upload this 5 times because I was playing a tug of war with NBC/Universal. Hopefully, I can stay on the tightrope between Fair Use Education and DACA.

The video is also crisper and sharper like my previous vlogs. The previous 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny' positive review via Light Spoilers is still online.

On July 7th, 1998, Darkman II: The Return of Durant made its primetime television premiere. This video celebrates its 25th anniversary. One of the accidental...

I honestly forgot to post on this page since the Pandemic got so overwhelming (last post was 2020), so here's one of my most recent Filmagram film lessons on the FlikerTheatre YouTube channel. 16 minutes of all 1980's movie references (and some 60's-70's) that inspired shot lists and style of "Stranger Things Season 4." (Spoilers obviously) Please subscribe to my channel if you haven't yet!

Merry Christmas, peeps! 🎁 A new video celebrating from 3 days ago the December 22nd anniversary of Welles' 1962 'The Trial' and 1965's 'Chimes at Midnight' release. And yet this is not about those films, lol.

This is my latest vlog on my channel. 'In Defense of: Citizen Kane' is devoted to the history and true harrowing events that occurred immediately upon release. Literally, a Hearst versus Welles game of survival. A far more interesting and accurate story than what came out of Fincher's 'Mank.' This video is mostly devoted to getting the facts on the level. Enjoy! 🎬

A 28 minute collection of all the hits on an undignified "Now that's what I call a CD" version of Donald Trump's career as a president. All of the most likely elements that would end up in a film version. This is my satirical attempt to critique a hypothetical film based on the man of tactless hyperbole and the obvious lack of the mental equipment to do any job.

Vote.
