Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series The Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series has 4 concerts a year at Powers Hall in Needham Town Hall. We are now entering our tenth season of performances!

The Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series is brought to you thanks to the efforts of The Great Hall Performance Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation pledged to continue the good work of its predecessor, Citizens for the Preservation of Town Hall. Our philanthropic mission continues to focus on historic preservation, building a vibrant community, and local economic development. We also seek to highlight and support the excellent performing arts programs in the Needham Public Schools. The GHPF works closely with the Needham Town Manager, the local business community, allied arts organizations, and the Schools to provide outstanding but affordable concerts in our beautifully-restored Town Hall. As part of this effort, Needham students are involved in all facets of concert series planning, production, and performance. Furthermore, a large donation from the proceeds of each season is contributed annually to the Needham Schools’ Fine and Performing Arts program. Each season features a renowned, world-class artist from the pop, folk, classical, and jazz genres. Join our mailing list to stay informed to stay informed about our concerts and plans. It is always a pleasure to have such amazingly talented students open the Needham Bank Great Hall Concerts! Needham High School’s Rocket Robins both opened for Lauren Ambrose, and later joined her on the stage for "How Deep is Your Love", a piece arranged by her accompanist Matt Cusson.

Reviews from the sold out audience had some saying it was one of the best concerts in 13 years of the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series. An Evening with Lauren Ambrose has almost sold out, but a few tickets remain to see the opening concert in the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series tonight. Tickets can be purchased on line or at the box office in the lobby of Needham Town Hall, which opens at 6:00 pm.

The opening act for An Evening with Lauren Ambrose are Needham High School’s Rocket Robins, under the direction of music teacher Dr. Jonathan VanderWoude. These talented singers – Katie Memory, Amelia Broderick, Sam Pomerantz, Bella Escovitz, Lucie Salerno, and Bella George – are members of the Needham High School chorus program and are very active in musical theatre. They will be performing “Mama Who Bore Me” from ‘Spring Awakening’ (A Capella) and “First Burn” from ‘Hamilton’ (accompanied by Logan Heath on piano keyboard). Pictured are the singers who were part of the NHS Chorale that opened last season’s concert with Seth Rudetsky & Andrea McArdle. Two of those members, now seniors, are part of the Rocket Robins.

He is a Grammy-nominated artist/producer/arranger who has collaborated with Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, the inaugural winner of ‘The Voice’ Javier Colon, and nine-time Grammy-Award nominee Dave Koz, and many other stars in the music industry.

Season Opener Lauren Ambrose Showcases a Community of Music!
The start of a new season of music shines a spotlight on how the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series is but one example of our Needham community spirit. We can see this in so many of our town activities, and this series is a joyful community effort that brings together local businesses, restaurants, and students.

Emmy, Tony, and Grammy-nominated actress and singer Lauren Ambrose brings that community energy to our Needham stage on September 19th. She is no stranger to Needham – it's her husband Sam’s hometown and where her in-laws Moe and Elizabeth Handel still live.

Our first concert will open with the Needham High A Ca****la group Rocket Robins. For the past 13 years, the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series has become an integral part of this community spirit. Dedicated to supporting Needham School’s Fine & Performing Arts programs, we feature our amazingly talented student performers at every show, make an annual donation to the Program, and have now started a new fund for Master Classes with students and some visiting performers.

Lauren Ambrose's Gift to Needham – Opening the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series on September 19th!

Lauren Ambrose is an Emmy, Tony, and Grammy-nominated actress and singer who is performing a special concert because of her close ties to Needham. Her husband Sam Handel was raised here, and her in-laws Moe and Elizabeth Handel are well-known in the town.

“[She is] not on tour. She’s not doing multiple shows at multiple venues. This is a one-and-only that she’s doing for us,” says Gloria Greis, Great Hall Performance Foundation co-president. “It’s going to be a special show that’s not going to be replicated.”
