Two weeks ago, Eileen Ivers and her band Universal Roots thrilled the audience at the last concert of the 12th season of the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series. She played her signature blue violin ‘Bluey’ at astonishing lightening speeds and to much applause. At the merchandise table after the concert, the few copies of her children’s book 'Will Someone Play Bluey?' quickly sold out.

If you are interested in buying her book, The Book Shop of Needham, located at 283 Chestnut Street in Needham, now has them in stock!

“From the Grammy-awarded violinist and educator Eileen Ivers, known for her unique musical style and blue violin, comes this uplifting story of standing up for yourself. Join Bluey, the children, and the other instruments at Eileen’s music school and see how they ultimately celebrate that our differences are often our strengths.”

The audience reviews are outstanding for Eileen Ivers & Universal Roots, the last concert in the 2025/2026 season of the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series. They include “Amazing“, “Fantastic”, and “Fabulous!”

This comment from Mindy Popp was especially stellar: “I saw you perform for the first time tonight. The talent and passion for music that you and your band have is immeasurable. This was the best concert I have seen. Your music is the perfect antidote for all the challenges we are facing in the world right now. Life is better after being in your presence. I hope to see you perform again. Tonight was a special treat I will not soon forget.”

An announcement about the full lineup of performers in our 13th season will be coming out soon. Season ticket subscribers year after year get to experience a variety of musical genres performed by world-class performers, and are guaranteed a seat at our sold out concerts. Sponsors get to sit in the first three rows, and their names are in the program and on the slide show, recognizing their support for great music coming to Needham and student musicians at Needham Public School. Consider subscribing or sponsoring the next season!
