Stress looks different on everyone.

Some people shut down.
Some people stay busy so they don’t have to feel.
Some people get quiet.
Some people get short-tempered.
Some people smile, show up, and look like they have it all together… while carrying a whole storm nobody sees.

Before you judge someone’s attitude, energy, or distance — remember you may only be seeing the surface.

Check on your strong friends.
Give people grace.
Everyone is fighting something you know nothing about. 🤍

The mental game will break you long before the barrels ever do.
Your horse feels every ounce of doubt, hesitation, fear, and frustration you drag into that alleyway. Some days you’re not fighting the clock… you’re fighting your own head.

The cowgirls who make it aren’t always the most talented.
They’re the ones who keep showing up after the bad runs, the missed checks, the falls, the tears, the self-doubt, and the people running their mouths from the sidelines.

Weak minds quit.
Strong cowgirls adjust, reload, and come back meaner.

Diesel Rodeo isn’t built for soft people.

If you’ve been around horses long enough, you know gate issues can humble anybody.
Even the good ones. Even the experienced ones. Even the riders who look confident every other day of the week.

So why do some people stand there watching somebody struggle at the gate like it’s entertainment instead of stepping in to help?

A real cowgirl knows one bad moment doesn’t define a horse or a rider.
Sometimes that horse is scared, confused, hot, overwhelmed, or feeding off energy around them. It happens. We’ve ALL been there whether people admit it or not.

Instead of whispering, staring, or acting superior from the sidelines, maybe grab the gate, lend a hand, say something encouraging, or help calm the situation down.

Because Barrel Racing and horse life has a funny way of humbling every single one of us eventually.
Today it might be their horse at the gate… tomorrow it could be yours.
I said what I said! I’ve been there😅

Good horsemanship isn’t measured by a buckle, a check, or the clock at the end of a run.
It’s measured in early mornings, late nights, sore backs, routine care, patience, and the quiet moments walking back to the barn.

The best horsemen and horsewomen understand:
Your horse doesn’t know your placing… but they know your consistency, your attitude, and how you cared for them along the way.

Because at the end of the day, the ribbons fade.
The partnership lasts.

We believe great horsemanship is built on respect, responsibility, and putting the horse first — on and off the arena floor.

🤍 Take care of the horse, and the horse will take care of you.

That horse doesn’t care about excuses.
He doesn’t care if you’re tired, frustrated, broke, emotional, or doubting yourself.

He only knows whether you showed up.

That’s what dedication looks like.
Quiet work. Dusty boots. Empty arenas. Repetition nobody sees.
Day after day until the results finally start speaking for themselves.

People see the run.
They don’t see the hours behind it.

Dedication is what turns average into dangerous. 🔥

I remember years ago when I was at the Josey Junior Finals and these kids were put on horses that the parents leased and the kids were crying and falling off, and the horses were running to the fence at that time I was 18 and I was horrified then that these parents wanted their kids to win more for the parents than the kid and would put them at risk of getting hurt. Crazy 🤪

Listen we are probably going to ruffle some feathers with this post but as producers who have seen it all we feel like this should be talked about.

The American Rodeo was this weekend and seeing young ladies like Taylor Armenta, Hadlee Landers, Tabitha Dyal, and Dusky Lynn Hall competing at 14 years old and under is absolutely incredible. These girls are HANDS. Their talent, dedication, horsemanship, and work ethic are on another level. Seriously mind blowing 🤯
But here’s the part (I’m just going to say it.) Parents need to understand…
These girls are NOT the norm. They are the exception. They and their horses are 100% elite athletes that know their job the nano second they step into that arena.

As producers, we are seeing more and more parents trying to shortcut the process by over mounting under qualified kids on horses they simply are not ready for. And honestly? It’s becoming dangerous.
We’ve seen horrific wrecks. We’ve seen kids completely lose confidence in themselves and their horses. We’ve seen horses learn bad habits because they figured out real quick the rider couldn’t hold them accountable.
Just because a horse is fast does NOT mean it’s the right horse for your child.
And just because your kid wants to run like the girls listed above does not mean they should be thrown on a 1D rocket ship tomorrow.
What happened to the good old solid kid horse? The kind that teaches balance, timing, confidence, and actual HORSEMANSHIP before speed ever enters the conversation?
Because the truth is… the girls competing at that level likely spent years putting in countless hours riding, learning, failing, practicing, and developing their skills. They didn’t wake up one morning and magically become elite horsewomen.
Slow down. Let your kids learn. Let them become horsemen FIRST. Most importantly Invest in lessons. Invest in confidence. Invest in the foundation.
A kid that learns correctly on the right horse will eventually become way more successful than one that gets terrified, hurt, or loses confidence because the adults pushed too hard too fast.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with dialing it back and building great horsemen before building great barrel racers.

Diesel Rodeo was never just about horses, barrels, or rodeo life.
It was built for the people who know what grit feels like. The ones who get up sore, tired, doubted, broke down, and still saddle up anyway.

It’s about the women who carry the weight without asking for sympathy.
The cowgirls who work all day, feed horses in the dark, chase dreams on weekends, and still keep showing up when nobody’s clapping for them yet.

Diesel Rodeo is the reminder that tough women still exist.
That discipline matters.
That loyalty matters.
That hard work still means something.

Behind the “why” is freedom, grit, horsepower, late nights, dusty arenas, and the belief that you don’t have to fit into the world’s version of soft to still have a good heart.

It’s for the ones who’ve been underestimated their whole lives… and used it as fuel. 🤠

Some people will always go the extra mile…
while others are standing around saying, “that’s not my job.”

Funny how the ones doing the bare minimum always expect the biggest rewards.

The hardworking ones don’t need applause.
They just keep building, grinding, fixing, showing up, and carrying the weight nobody else wants.

And that’s exactly why the extra mile is never crowded. 🔥

Monday’s got some nerve showing up every week acting like we ain’t already carrying enough.

But cowgirls don’t fold.
We saddle up, caffeinate aggressively, and drag our goals across the finish line with dirt on our boots and attitude in our veins.

Hate Mondays if you want…
I’m over here making Monday hate me back. 🤠🔥
