A Sneak Peek Behind the Village Gates…

Every great village begins with a vision. Today, we’re excited to share a glimpse of that vision coming to life.

In one photo, you’ll see us walking the grounds and planning where the village will soon stand. Before long, these open fields will be filled with merchants, musicians, laughter, and adventure.

In another, you’ll spot the massive logs waiting to become rustic tables and benches surrounding the fire circle, a place where stories will be shared, songs will be sung, and new friendships will be forged beneath the stars.

And then there are the views! Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, our village is surrounded by some of Western North Carolina’s most breathtaking scenery.

As you gaze into those ancient woods, you may find yourself wondering - Did something just move between the trees? Perhaps the Woodwose is already watching, waiting for the gates to open and the story of Robin Hood to unfold.

No Renaissance celebration is complete without a toast, and we're thrilled to welcome Stardust Cellars to the Western North Carolina Renaissance Faire.

Stardust Cellars is a unique and innovative wild meadery located in North Wilkesboro NC. As the first biodynamic vineyard in the region, they are committed to producing high-quality, handcrafted mead and wine using only the finest ingredients and sustainable practices.

Stardust Cellars takes great pride in their commitment to biodynamic farming, which emphasizes the use of natural methods to cultivate grapes and honey for their meads. This means that they prioritize the health of the soil, the plants, and the ecosystem as a whole, creating a harmonious relationship between nature and mead.

Stardust Cellar’s meads are known for their uniquely refreshing and crisp character due to expert blending and balance but also due to their use of water taken straight from the mountains behind the meadery instead of city tap water.

They source their ingredients locally whenever possible, supporting the local community and reducing their carbon footprint. By not buying honey from national commercial beekeepers and insisting that all beekeepers they buy from promote native pollinators, it offsets the negative ecological impact of mass production of honey and the disease pressure this places on the bees. All of their honey comes in 5 gallon buckets from local beekeepers in WNC. With local raw honey, indigenous yeast, and a focus on the unique flavors of the Carolinas, Stardust Cellars truly exemplifies terroir-driven Southern mead.

A great Renaissance Faire is built one detail at a time.

Yaffa, one of our founder's daughters, is whipping up the perfect pickle recipe to help make sure every guest gets a taste of something special when they visit the village.

It's little moments like these that make our first year so exciting. Families working together, entrepreneurs being born, and memories already being made before the gates have even opened.

The inaugural WNC Renaissance Faire is being put together by local business owners, long time ren faire participants and performers, and normal people like me and you! Stay tuned for a look at some “Faces behind the Faire” in the coming weeks as you see our Faire come to life!

Hear the call of the Highlands!

In just one month, the stirring sound of the bagpipes will echo through the village as Kit Rashid joins us at the Western North Carolina Renaissance Faire in Nebo, North Carolina!

Based in Asheville, NC, Kit Rashid brings a lifetime of experience as a performer, teacher, and competitor on the Highland bagpipe.

He performs as a professional-grade soloist with the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association and serves as a band member and instructor with the Grandfather Mountain Highlanders, the host band of the renowned Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.

For more than 30 years, Kit has shared the timeless music of the Highlands at weddings, Kirkin' o' the Tartans, college commencements, sporting events, and countless other celebrations.

His passion is simple: to share the music he loves in a way that is welcoming, memorable, and inspiring for everyone who hears it.
