It’s only a food processor.

Except sometimes, the thing isn’t really the thing. It’s what it holds. ❤️

This week, something I’ve owned for more than 20 years finally broke—and with it came a wave of grief I wasn’t quite expecting.

Grief is funny like that. It can hide in ordinary things. A song. A smell. A recipe. An old photograph.

Or apparently, a food processor.

I wrote about it because I think we need to talk more about what grief actually looks like in real life—even 20 years later.

And sometimes it looks like crying over a kitchen appliance. 😭😂

More behind the scenes from our Looking for Lincoln photo shoot.

Have you ever been in the Rheinberger Museum in the Nauvoo State Park? It holds many relics from the past. I didn't get many pictures this time but, if you like old creepy dolls.... This museum has a few. They also have an old w**e cellar in the basement that's a great place to explore.

Later in the day we headed to Main Street in Historic Nauvoo, where we were met with quite a few willing models and continued with the shoot.

We had a great time with the Steves representing Looking for Lincoln.

We love our little town and we can't wait to see the pictures!

I'm finally sharing a few pictures from exploring last week.

We actually had reps for Looking for Lincoln in town, and Nauvoo got a bit of a photo shoot!

Of course, I had to snap a few random pics of my own.

We started the day at Zion's Mercantile because rain decided to make an appearance. No pictures there because my phone wasn't handy since I had to play the 'random shopper' ON camera 😆

These photos were taken at the Willard Richards Inn. I love getting the chance to wander through this bed and breakfast - It's one of the many beautiful gems tucked away in Nauvoo.

Sometimes a photograph holds more than what you can see. 🌿

I’ve photographed this view many times, and I still find it beautiful. The light, the trees, the changing sky, the temple rising in the distance—it’s one of those scenes that makes me stop and look.

And maybe photographs are a little like people.

There is often more to the story than what we see on the surface. A good reminder to move through the world with a little more curiosity, kindness, and grace.

I recently wrote something inspired by the story behind this photograph.
