We are a pre-professional collegiate ensemble in Nashville, TN, in which college students from around Middle Tennessee play alongside working professional orchestral musicians.

Welcome to the GHSO 26-27 season!

We are thrilled to invite you to our first full season in Nashville, Tennessee. Our musicians are thrilled to be coming together for two full orchestra concerts this year.

October 10 Mozart and Beethoven - Mozart: Overture to Marriage of Figaro / Beethoven: Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92

March 20 Tan Plays Grieg - Mozart: Overture to The Magic Flute / Grieg: Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16 featuring Yongtong Tan / Sibelius: Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 43

These concerts are free and open to the public! There is no cost for tickets; however, donations are appreciated! The GHSO is in the process of filing for non-profit status, so donations are not currently tax-exempt.

Are you an orchestral musician or classical vocalist studying music in Middle Tennessee? Are you looking for an ensemble to connect with your colleagues at Middle Tennessee colleges AND work alongside professional musicians? Look no further than the Green Hills Symphony Orchestra!

The Green Hills Symphony Orchestra (GHSO) is Nashville’s newest orchestral ensemble, working to bridge the gap between collegiate and professional orchestral experience for Middle Tennessee students. Undergraduate and graduate students from , , , and join professional musicians from the , , , and more to put on 2 concerts a year.

We are now accepting submissions for ALL INSTRUMENTS for the 2026-2027 cycle, as well as classical vocalists. If interested, please fill out the interest form at the link in our bio. we look forward to hearing you!

Welcome to the Green Hills Symphony Orchestra!

The Green Hills Symphony Orchestra, led by founding music director Thomas Butler, is Nashville’s newest pre-professional orchestra, providing a unique experience that bridges the gap between student musicians and professional performance!

This ensemble was created to offer college-age musicians from across Middle Tennessee the extraordinary opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside seasoned professional orchestral musicians, coming from the Nashville Philharmonic, Middle Tennessee Sinfonietta, Green Hills Wind Symphony, Music City Brass Ensemble, and more!

Together, we will prepare 2-3 full programs per year, starting off with a week of rehearsals and culminating in a free, public performance at a Nashville venue. Our inaugural concert is on April 11, 2026, featuring a program of Barber, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky.
