Happy Birthday to GMA HOF member, Clarice “Ma” Baxter! 🎉🎶

Today, the C&G celebrates the birthday of Clarice “Ma” Baxter, a Gospel music pioneer whose leadership and dedication helped shape the genre for generations.

For more than four decades, Clarice helped build and nurture the Stamps-Baxter Music and Printing Company while also playing an important role in the annual Stamps-Baxter School of Music. Following the death of her husband, J.R. Baxter, in 1960, she became President and General Manager of the company—making history as the first woman to hold sole responsibility for such a business in the Gospel music community.
