A Legacy of Excellence

For more than 50 years, the Nashville Bands have entertained the residents of Southwest Arkansas on the field at Scrapper Stadium, in the 6th Street auditorium, and in the Scrapper Arena. The band’s legacy of greatness has been built by generations of hardworking students and directors.

Students may join the band in 6th grade. The beginning band offers individual and group instruction on wind and percussion instruments, as well as basic music literacy, history, composition, and improvisation.

Upon successfully completing their first year of band, 7th and 8th grade students become part of the Junior High Band. This band performs a halftime show at home 9th grade football games in the fall, and performs 3 or more concerts a year. The band competes at regional concert assessments each year. Students in the band have the opportunity to audition for the jr. high all-region bands, and the school jazz band starting in their 7th grade year. The goal for students in this band is to advance their personal playing and ensemble skills in preparation for high school band.

9th through 12th grade students join the high school band. Students in this band performs at local, regional, and state events year round, including several marching and concert competitions. Students are encouraged to try out for the senior high all-region concert and jazz bands, as well as the school jazz band. Band members may also choose to compete in region and state level solo and small ensemble competitions.
