is an incredible artist, maker, woodworker and person. Last summer, when she put out a number of Instagram Stories showing how to make brushes, I was hooked. Not only was it well taught, it was interesting, unique and just really freaking cool.
She started work on a collaboration with Greg Pennington (), making a Settee that she then painstakingly painted. At some point she was kind enough to suffer and I invading her space to hang out at Greg’s. While there I think we watched her make like 15 chairs in-between steps on the Settee. 😳
She came and spent time with us at the farm, getting some animal therapy with Anne and helping us sort out the barn. And one day, while hanging out in the office, I got to pepper her with introspective questions. (Sorry Aspen 😅)
We talked about making things and creativity and managing the lightning in our brains. I am left so grateful for the thoughtful conversations we had. From the experience of teaching, creating accessible learning environments and helping the people around us through deep consideration of their needs.
Aspen and Greg asked if I would come lend my photographer skills to capture the result of their incredible collaboration. I was super honored (and nervous) to do it.
I kept telling Aspen “this is so amazing looking”. Hopefully these pictures make you all feel a bit of what we all have been feeling in person around this object.
You’re a rad person Aspen, and this thing is amazing. Thanks for letting me take pictures and I’m glad we’re friends now. 😊
(p.s. - sorry if this is embarrassing. 😬 You’re awesome don’t be embarrassed!)
