Shoes Off Nashville is a Nashville-based organization that celebrates and brings visibility to Asian and Pacific Islander (API) songwriters, comedians, slam poets, book authors, and other performance artists in Nashville, Tennessee. Called Shoes Off for short, this organization strives to:
1. Unite the API community and its allies to uplift API songwriters and other creators.
2. Heighten visib
ility and alleviate colorism for underrepresented groups within the API community.
4. Embrace collaboration with other organizations inside and outside of the API community. After moving to Nashville in 2017, songwriter Benn Park founded Shoes Off Nashville in January of 2022. Originally limited to just being a writer's round series, Benn decided to expand his project to an organization, bringing fellow API artist Mandy Moon and her partner, Joey, to expand Shoes Off's operations. Shoes Off Nashville is a new, still developing, organization with potential to do good for Nashville's API community, partnering with API organizations and allies of the API community.
