This Juneteenth, Harmony, Incorporated stands in celebration of a holiday rooted in the long overdue promise of freedom. Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865—the day Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the freedom of enslaved African Americans who were still being held in bo***ge, more than two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect.
It’s a celebration of freedom delayed but never denied, and a reminder to honor the resilience, joy, and culture of Black Americans—and one that has always been carried by song.
Music has never just accompanied the fight for freedom—it has carried it. Singing has always been how Black communities processed grief, declared joy, and imagined liberation before it arrived.
That's why, as an organization built on four-part harmony, we don't take this holiday lightly. When we open our mouths to sing — whether it's a spiritual, a standard, or a barbershop chord that rings — we're participating in a tradition where music is freedom work.
🎵 So on Juneteenth, we listen. We learn. We sing. And we celebrate the freedom that music has helped carry forward for 160+ years.
Our US corporate office will be closed in celebration of the holiday.
Happy Juneteenth, from all of us at Harmony, Incorporated.
