Why should we use visuals for communication? Storytelling has been a popular buzzword in the communications field for many years because storytelling sells. We should listen to our audience to understand their interests and then engage them with resonating storytelling. Using visuals provides another powerful layer to content. If creatives want to invite interactivity quickly, the trend is to offer a carefully crafted image so the readers can deduce the message and then decide to read more.

Unfortunately, on January 3, 2019 the famous singer Beyonce faced an unexpected lawsuit because an unhappy fan could not navigate her website. The complaint was that the website lacked certain features that allow people who are visually impaired to access online information. The fan claimed she was denied goods, services, pricing specials due to disability-based discrimination, in violation of the American Disability Act (ADA.)
There has been an explosion of these lawsuits. What can you do to avoid facing similar litigation? Artsy Tech Ladies will share how to meet the accessibility guidelines recommended by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG): Test your site at the WebAIM https://webaim.org/ for errors. Request a tipsheet with suggestions to make improvements such as adding alternative text for images. Better user experience for people with disabilities is a better user experience for all.

Like to do graphic design? I worked with a nonprofit The River Fund to create their logo. The founder did a sketch and I incorporated her images into the colorful graphic. The River Fund supports women and children in Africa and Florida.
