🌟 Today’s Featured Cast Member:
Max Geide is Robert Martin

Max has now done five shows at Lucky Penny, which at this point makes it less a theatre and more a habit he has no intention of breaking. Max was last seen here in "Peter and Alice." Other recent work includes "Other Desert Cities" (2025 NorBay Theater Awards – Outstanding Supporting Performance), "Wonder of the World" (Lake Tahoe — Lakey Penny) "Almost, Maine" (Arty Awards – Best Actor), "The Glass Menagerie," and "Rumors" at Sonoma Arts Live. "The Drowsy Chaperone" has been a favorite for a long time, and getting to finally do it here, with these people, is not lost on him. Enormous thanks to Taylor and Barry for building something so special. All his love to his husband Alex Gomez, Robb, Marc, Carol, Greg, Monica, Curtis, Bonnie, Doug, Amy, April, Ryan, Robby, Jenny, Brandon, David, his nieces, nephew, and everyone who keeps showing up — you make it mean something.

🥂 About the Show:
Filled with glamorous brides, mistaken identities, gangsters disguised as pastry chefs, a charming Latin lover, and one very tipsy chaperone, The Drowsy Chaperone is a laugh-out-loud love letter to the golden age of Broadway musicals. Told through the imagination of a devoted theater fan spinning his favorite cast album, this wildly fun musical is packed with big laughs, bigger dance numbers, and enough joy to leave you grinning all the way home. ✨

🌟 Today’s Featured Cast Member:
Taylor Bartolucci as The Drowsy Chaperone

Taylor is thrilled to once again bring her signature “sarcastic drunk” energy to the stage—a role she seems to keep inhabiting! She is the co-founder and Artistic Director of Lucky Penny Productions, works for Madonna Estate Winery, Leadership Napa Valley, and co-hosts the Tues/Thurs morning show on 99.3 The Vine. When she’s not juggling all of that, she’s mom to her two crazy gremlins Rocco and Gia. Endless gratitude to the Lucky Penny community and everyone who keeps the magic of local theatre alive.

Lucky Penny Productions opens their seventh and final show of the 2025-26 season on Friday, May 29th. “The Drowsy Chaperone” runs three weekends through June 14th at the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center.

“This musical is a love letter to musicals,” said Artistic Director Taylor Bartolucci, who plays the tipsy title character. “It’s full of laughs and dancing and catchy tunes, which has made it a favorite for theatre lovers everywhere.”

In the story, a die-hard musical theatre fan plays his favorite cast album and the characters come to life in his New York apartment. In the show-within-the-show, we meet two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone – all the ingredients for a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical.

“The Drowsy Chaperone” debuted in 1998 in Toronto and opened on Broadway in 2006 where it went in to win five Tony Awards.
“The Drowsy Chaperone” features Stage Direction by Daren A.C. Carollo, Musical Direction by Craig Burdette, and Choreography by Alex Gomez. The cast includes DC Scarpelli as The Man in the Chair, Melissa Momboisse as Janet Van De Graaff, Max Geide as Robert Martin, Jeremy Kreamer as George, Taylor Bartolucci as The Chaperone, Alex Gomez as Aldolpho, Sarah Lundstrom and Faustino Cadiz as the Pastry Chefs, Leslie Sexton as Mrs. Tottendale, Peter Budinger as the Underling, Kade Morrill as Trix the Aviatrix, Barry Martin as Feldzeig, Jenny Veilleux as Kitty, and Erin Smith and Adam Goldsmith as multiple characters.
