Located on over 200 scenic acres in the "Los Carneros" region of the Napa Valley, di Rosa offers visitors refuge, a spacious environment where all are welcome to enjoy the art of Northern California in a singularly unique setting, with a wide array of exhibitions and educational programs for all ages. The property includes two large galleries, a sculpture meadow, a 35-acre lake aptly named "Winery

Lake," and a wildlife preserve. In addition to changing exhibitions of contemporary art, year-round programs include artist talks, nature hikes, docent and school tours, Spanish-language tours, and special performances.

Something strange is taking shape in the Gatehouse Gallery.

Our newest exhibition, Making Strange, opens this weekend at di Rosa Napa!

Behind the scenes, our Collections & Exhibitions Manager Katie Kime and Art Conservator Justin have been busy installing works from the di Rosa collection that embrace the awkward, humorous, unruly, grotesque, and imperfect.

Making Strange explores a distinctly Northern California approach to art, one that favors experimentation over polish and finds beauty in unexpected materials, eccentric forms, contradiction, and surprise. In these works, things sag, crack, collide, accumulate, and refuse conventional standards of taste, inviting us to reconsider what makes something beautiful in the first place.

JoAnn Gillerman's piece, Border Eclipse Immersive, is a three part interactive piece including a virtual reality immersion into the 2024 total eclipse experienced at the US-Mexico border.

Have ewe herd the news? Veronica di Rosa’s Sheep Herd (1988) is being restored! Time, severe weather, and the 2017 wildfires have made our flock a little shabby. Thanks to some generous and dedicated donors, our Sheep Herd is being professionally conserved and will be reinstalled in their original location at the front of our property.

The images in Pred’s projection series are a call to action, a call to conversations and a call for democracy. ‘Projecting Democracy’ has illuminated such cultural landmarks as the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Federal building in San Francisco, and Yellowstone National Park
