Located on over 200 scenic acres in the "Los Carneros" region of the Napa Valley, di Rosa offers visitors refuge, a spacious environment where all are welcome to enjoy the art of Northern California in a singularly unique setting, with a wide array of exhibitions and educational programs for all ages. The property includes two large galleries, a sculpture meadow, a 35-acre lake aptly named "Winery Lake," and a wildlife preserve. In addition to changing exhibitions of contemporary art, year-round programs include artist talks, nature hikes, docent and school tours, Spanish-language tours, and special performances.

At di Rosa, you’ll find a permanent collection of over 1600 boundary-pushing indoor and outdoor works, each by a Bay Area artist. Rene and Veronica di Rosa, the founders of this Napa Valley wonder, spent close to 60 years collecting pieces from notable artists living or working in the San Francisco Bay Area.

As a result, the collection showcases the unique and inspiring story of the Bay Area’s art scene across the mid-twentieth to early twenty-first century, allowing visitors to see the extent of the experimentation and innovation that defines this region.

di Rosa has been supporting creativity and passion for over 60 years.

Our story begins in 1960, when Rene di Rosa first purchased the property. In 1983, Rene and Veronica gifted much of their art, land, and buildings to a foundation for the public’s benefit, and in 1997, Rene opened the collection to everyone as the di Rosa Preserve.

Today, we’re proud to host the largest permanent collection of contemporary art in Northern California, set indoors and outdoors in a pristine nature preserve.

🐑 The sheep are coming home, and you could name one!

Join us for the di Rosa Sheep Roundup, a celebration of di Rosa’s next chapter with barbecue, music, art, family fun, and our first-ever “livestock auction.”

We're celebrating our partnership with the Napa Open Space District and the Land Trust of Napa County, whose work is helping protect this special landscape and secure an exciting future for di Rosa.

Here’s how it works: We’re auctioning off the naming rights to all 22 sheep in Veronica di Rosa’s iconic herd sculpture. Place your bid and give a member of the flock a name that will stick for a full year!

Come celebrate their homecoming and help di Rosa head toward greener pastures. You might even take home a little piece of the herd yourself.

We’re thrilled to announce the acquisition of Ana Teresa Fernández’s Of Bodies and Borders 7 into the di Rosa collection.

The acquisition brings together Fernández’s painting and accompanying video work, extending di Rosa’s commitment to artists whose practices engage questions of place, identity, borders, and belonging.

In Of Bodies and Borders 7, Fernández turns the body and the landscape into sites of tension and possibility, inviting us to consider the borders—visible and invisible—that shape how we move through the world.

di Rosa is proud to continue building its collection of contemporary Northern California art through acquisitions like this one: works by artists whose practices reflect the complexity, diversity, and urgency of the region and its many histories. Full funding for this purchase was provided through the generosity of an anonymous donor.

We’re honored to steward this important work and to welcome Fernández’s incisive, poetic practice into the ongoing story of the di Rosa collection.
